Full 8 Minute Trailer For THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Hits

Yes, 8 minutes! This trailer was screened for critics a good while back and caused a bit of a stir. It's now made its way online and we have it here for your viewing pleasure..

When this trailer was announced many felt that it was a bit silly to release so much footage from the movie. But of course, you don't have to watch it. It is certainly a pretty hefty dose of the movie and although it doesn't give away any of the intricacies or plot twists it does spell out the story in fairly broad strokes. But it is also damn good, and should amp up anticipation even more for David Fincher's adaptation which also has a graphic novel in the works. Anyway, here it is, watch if you like..

You can get into the Christmas spirit when the "feel bad movie of the year" hits December, 26th.

Seemed pointless to make an American version of these films when the originals on DVD are such great sellers here in the States. :P

@Spiderbat I agree, but I'm still looking forward to this flick. I own the original 3 and I hope this one is just as good.

In all honesty the second and third Swedish films were ok, not great IMO opinion. Let's see what Fincher can do with them.

Not a fan of Lisbeth Salender. She is: a master of disguise, fight expert, has a photographic memory, is the best hacker in Sweden, math genius, etc. Just an invincible character in a vulnerable wrapper. Not sure why this book series is so popular. But we live in a world where Twilight is a best seller so go figure.

I'd be amazed if this movie improves on the original (which was expertly made IMO). And bearing in mind Fincher's version stars Daniel Craig, well, I hold even less hope.

SpiderBat209 - It's not pointless, not at all. The difference is that you are going to see the contrast between a decent (at best) directors vision of a story and a phenomenal directors vision of the very same story. For some reason, people think that just because one version of a story has been told that it's the definitive version......which couldn't be more ridiculous.
If you were to give the exact same script to 50 different directors, you are going to get 50 TOTALLY different films. Tone, composition, narrative, cinematography, pacing, performances.......the list goes on as to what will be drastically different in this version in comparison to the Swedish version (which by the way, is about to be forgotten entirely in the U.S.).

i read the book this summer and was impressed but also a little disappointed by the Swedish film, they missed a lot of the meat of the story and it looks like this one is even more true to the book.

I've seen all three Swedish movies--the first is the best, second is good, the third is the courtroom stuff. (Kinda boring, but it's neccesary to tie up all the loose ends.) I like Craig, but not sold on Mara yet. Roomi Napace (who is in the new Sherlock Holmes movie with RDJ) was fantastic as Lisbeth. Looking forward to this version.
