Taylor Kitsch Not Involved With THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

The John Carter star, who was previously linked to the role of Finnick Odair in the anticipated Hunger Games sequel, has confirmed that he won't be involved with the film.

Another actor has removed debunked a casting rumor for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which begins filming this fall. Recently, it was reported that Lionsgate's list of casting choices for the role of 'Finnick Odair' in the highly anticipated sequel have narrowed down to Taylor Kitsch (John Carter), Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy) and Armie Hammer (Mirror Mirror). Recently, Twilight star Robert Pattinson denied that he would play Finnick in Catching Fire, and now we have a denial from one of the aforementioned actors.

In response to an email from L.A. Times, Kitsch says that his participating in The Hunger Games was "Not going to happen." The actor is coming off of both John Carter and Battleship, neither of which made an impression with either the critics or the general audience. No word on whether or not Armie Hammer or Garrett Hedlund will be involved, but expect official casting news within the next few months (as the film is said to begin production in August). In the meantime, who would you like to see play Finnick Odair?

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (which sees the return of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, among others) is set to hit theaters November 22nd, 2013.

I like him as an actor, since Friday night lights, and I really liked John Cartern, liked Hunger Games too, but Im glad he didnt choose this proyect. He needs to build his carreer with other kind of proyects right now, to come back with a blockbuster later.

he should not be in any starring role... he will work fine as a supporting actor...

Out of all the actors he needs this the most. He has talent and a lot of potential, women love him and he has a sort of Harrison Ford charisma to him...but sadly both Battleship and John Carter flopped and his career has taken a big hit, what could have been his career making year could be his end. So being involved in a big movie like Catching Fire and the Hunger Games series could really help his career, plus would be a good marketing idea since he has the pretty boy charm young girls would love and would help his career stabilize a bit. Hopefully Oliver Stone's Savages can somewhat save it.

although I'm a fan of Garrett Hedlund, I don't think he's right for the role. Kitsch was probably the most suited in terms of look, but he's not the best actor. I actually like Pattinson as an actor, in a sense it's just unfortunate that he was in Twilight cos now everyone has this stern opinion of him when he's better than that (although he is massively rich because of it so I don't feel too sorry for him). Hammer was good in Social Network, and he could fit the role fine.

Any actor looking to be taken seriously will distance themselves from these tweeny movies. Taylor made the right move, especially since "Savages" is coming out!

I think after 2012 Taylor Kitsch will have a hard time being in any more blockbusters.

Why do you idiots come on here and bash on HG about it being a chick flick and have no idea what the whole series is about? If we based writings off of the the amount of emotional dialogue and interaction then Spiderman comics and X-Men would be right there at the top of chick books and teen drama. Started reading Ultimate Spider-man since I've caught up on 616 Amazing Spidey and the book is all drama and emotion with a bit of action. The truth is that most of you guys don't have a clue that you can't have a good action movie or story without the drama and emotion in it and while you think that HG is a "chick flick" with action it is actually an intelligently written book that targets a teen audience and well guys don't read much so of course more girls have read the books, same goes for Harry Potter. I won't add Twilight b/c that is just sh17.

Please be Garrett Hedlund.

It MUST be Garrett Hedlund.

Please be Garrett Hedlund.

PLEASE!

If Robinov has his way JLA will start casting this year. Armie Hammer MUST be cast as Superman this time. Somewhere in WB is a tape of Hammer's MOS screentest. Robinov has to have seen it.

Armie Hammer has to be cast as Superman this time.

And no I don't care about HG.
