Deadline exclusively reveals that Legendary Pictures has hired Tim Miller to helm Gravel, an adaptation of Warren Ellis' Avatar Press series. Rick Alexander will produce the movie for Legendary while Ellis will serve as executive producer with a script from Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell. The site mentions the fact that 20th Century Fox last year hired Miller to direct X-Men Origins: Deadpool, but offer no sort of update as to whether he is still attached to the movie which is set to star Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. Gravel focuses on William Gravel, a British S.A.S. soldier who uses his fighting and dark magic skills to take on supernatural beings for clients in order to make some extra cash.

This sounds interesting, but I hope he can get around to doing Deadpool before this, even though I wouldn't hold my breathe on it.

Just give the Deadpool movie to a new team. Joe Carnahan or Mark Nevildine and Brian Taylor are my personal choices. Tim Miller could have potential, but he is an sfx guy with no directing work under his belt. And Ryan Reynolds seems to be picking up more work these days that side track him from Deadpool.

I think Daniel Craig would be good for this role.

[frick] it, someone get Reynolds on the phone. We're gonna have to direct Deadpool ourselves.

Deadpool's sales have really dropped over the past year. Fox should do an X-Force movie instead, teaming Jackman (Wolvy), maybe Reynolds (Deadpool), maybe Moon Bloodgood (Psylocke), and whoever for Archangel and Fantomex.
