The original movie was about two soldiers in Vietnam that kill each other. Van Damme plays the good soldier, while Lundgren plays the insane one that likes to chop off ears from his victims. Van Damme puts a stop to him, but sacrifices his own life.

Their bodies are recovered by the government and they are used in a secret Army experiment that brings them back to life decades later. Part of the process for reanimating them involves cryogenics, computer implants, and physical alterations to make them even stronger. A whole team of ex-dead soldiers are put together and are considered perfect soldiers since all they do is take orders. Or so they thought, til one day Van Damme is put in a situation in which memories of Vietnam come bubbling and he begins to regain his humanity. The problem is that Lundgren's character also regains his memories, and reclaims his insane ways and the two duke it out.

Damian Kindler (Stargate, Sanctuary) is writing the show, which will be produced by FremantleMedia North America, the U.S. arm of the London-based TV producer. Allen Shapiro and Craig Baumgarten, who produced the original movie, will be executive producers. Shapiro is currently chairman of TV Guide Network and was a founder of Mosaic Media Group, while Baumgarten’s movie credits include Hook and Shattered Glass. Baumgarten has a long track record as a studio executive including stints at Paramount, Columbia, Fox and Lorimar.

First one and last one were decent, don't see why they beat these in the ground.Look at Resident Evil movies.

If they do it right it could be pretty cool.

@ROMACK

I agree. If they can do this show right, it could be gold. The first movie was good along with The Return. The tv movies were ok, but regeneration had its moments. I hope that they bring back all of the characters from movie 1, to start off the pilot.

I liked all 3, but the first and third were the best. As was mentioned earlier, the third one pretended the second never happened. The third was pretty brutal too, which was awesome. The second one was good, but it was kinda silly and less serious. It just doesn't seem to fit in with the others.

Cool concept but, we already have a real group who can do all this shit without the Sci-Fi element so the show just won't be as entertianing.

@ TyrannicalOverlord- Agreed, Seal Team 6 is the elite power in the military world. May those that have lost their life on the team rest in peace.

That being said, the concept of Universal Soldier didn't work well past the first movie, but may fit this mold rather well. I can see storylines similar in nature to those told on Star Wars: Clone Wars in episodes heavily devoted to clones.

And I agree with the comment to avoid the mistakes made by Sarah Conner Chronicles. That really was a show that had great potential but fell off the face of the earth.
