What do you get when you cross comic books, DreamWorks, and Will Ferrell? Megamind. That's what you get.

Let me just start by saying I had semi-high hopes for this movie, considering the star-studded voice cast. But it was pretty evident that this movie, much like the last 3 Shrek movies, was going to be a waste of time.

You would think that with a lead character voiced by Will Ferrell would be absolutely gut-busting funny. I often times found him annoying and too melodramatic for a kids movie. I get that DreamWorks wants to convey a serious message by appropriating the "even bad guys can be good" undertone, but they were too serious about it.

You can draw parallels to Superman's mythology within the first 15 minutes of the film, in which Megamind establishes how he became so evil and why he despised Metro Man (voiced by Brad Pitt) as much as he did. And throughout the movie, there are even more Supes references littered here and there.

DreamWorks movies have always been hit and miss. They nailed the first Shrek movie, but the sequels were lacking the same "it" factor the first one had. How To Train Your Dragon definitely gave Pixar something to fear, but then followed it up with Shrek 4.

It was a nice reprieve to see something from the villain's perspective and how he wants to change into a good guy for the affection of reporter Roxanne Ritchie (Tina Fey).

It almost seemed, to me anyways, that DreamWorks didn't put their all into this film. And my go-to CGI animated superhero movie will always be The Incredibles.

As quoted by Ms. Veronica Corningstone: You look like a blueberry!

4 out of 10.
