Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes, this show kicks ass. I only seen a handful of episodes, current the last episode I have seen was Panthers Quest which was On Demand. To me this is the best adapted version of this team and their Mythos, much better than that horrible 90s version that used a team no one was invested in and didn't last long because it was terrible. I love the show because it is doing what it should be doing, showcasing the great team dynamic this group was known for. Although modernized from the 1960s, this is keeps true to the original roster, and the eventual joining of Captain America. A few have criticized the art style and character designs, which I don't know, why, everyone looks the part, even the amalgam Fury so many have complained about. Season 1 has wrapped up a few weeks ago and heading for DVD in April, getting my copy on release day, in two separate volumes, hopefully both chocked full of fun extras and teasers. Now this article is going to be my list of what I like to see in the coming seasons. This will be a standard top 10 list of Things I want to see in season 2 and onward with AVENGERS: EARTHS MIGHTIEST HEROES
#10. To Space and Beyond: in episode titled 459 and Widows Sting we have seen the classic two warring alien races; The Kree, the blue humanoids with advance technology, and the Skrull, the green reptilian shape shifters. These two iconic races are just a tiny fraction in the expansive mythos of the cosmic stories that Marvel has done in great affect. This could mean we can eventually see Nova, Quasar, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Thanos, and a bevy of many other great characters.
#9. Expanding roster: the one great thing about the Avengers is that it is an ever expanding team; they gain new members and lose some members throughout the decades. The team has slowly begun to expand with the inclusion of Black Panther and the on/off member of Hawkeye. Ms. Marvel has been seen flying and soon will develop her powers and hopefully will become the second female to join the team.
#8. Joining mythologies: This pick is a simple one, but may seem a bit harder to pull off. The one thing I'm sure we would all like to see is a much larger world, not just the Avenger style of heroes, but also introducing the most adapted comic characters, the X-men, and not just the X-men, but all the mutants. In one of the Micro episodes we see James Howlett(AKA Wolverine) in the same raid team Cap lead against the Red Skull. If this is just a tiny glimpse and since Wolverine and the X-men is no more, they can be brought in with a iteration in this series. Not just the Mutants, but also the Inhuman’s, Fantastic 4, and Dr. Strange, all which will be part of a number up the list.
#7. Crossover: This coming fall we are getting a new Spider-man cartoon based off the Ultimate Universe, called Ultimate Spider-man. We got a tiny fan service moment with a newspaper mentioning everyone's favorite web slinger. Could we see an episode where the team meets the young web head, and that could lead up to the Ultimate cartoon later this year?
#6. The Thunderbolts: Baron Zemo is still around in this animated universe and his Masters of Evil lost to the powerful Avengers team, could we then see him forming the team that made him famous and hear that classic like “Justice, Like Lighting”. The roster he was known for, not any of the current teams made by Luke Cage or Normal Osborn.
#5. Shift in tone: This might be the most unlikely since they want it to remain upbeat and fun, but much like Justice League becoming Justice League: Unlimited, a shift in the tone of the stories and themes could be a very dynamic and bold thing the creators could do. Can they pull off a variation of the Demon in the Bottle, where Tony becomes a hindrance to the team and then bring in Rhodes to fill in, and then lead him into the War Machine mantle. Or bringing back Bucky as the Winter Soldier and attacking Rogers on his morals due to his Russian reprogramming.
#4. The Illuminati: Well I'm sure you saw this one coming, if they begin to introduce the other mythologies like the Inhuman’s the Fantastic 4, Mutants, Namor, and Dr. Strange. I would like to see Tony join up with his secret team that keeps the world safe but only through what they see it.
#3. West Coast Avengers: Connecting with the expanding roster, a secondary team should be created in California, the former team we know as the West Coast Avengers. Lead by Hawkeye then bringing in Hank Pym and changing both teams with new fan favorite characters.
#2. Animation improvements: Now I said that I did enjoy the shows look and feel when it comes to the animation department. Everyone looks like their comic counterparts, but there are still a few minor tweaks they could do to improve the quality. I like the see Captain America to be less bulky, I know he is a super soldier, but they could make him a little bit leaner yet still show he is super strong. Also a change in Wasp’s outfit, from being youngish into a more mature outfit, much like the current comic look, the black suit with yellow symbol would look awesome animated. Another change that would be nice but not that necessary is Thor; he looks like the classical Kirby look, but the current look would be a nice show of evolution. Tony shouldn't be left out, obviously with the inclusion of the Silver Centurion armor, a new Armor design seems inevitable. Now that the show is a huge success, I'm sure more improvements will begin to take shape.
And the #1 thing I would like to see in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is…..
#1. Comic book story lines: Which ones, any that were the best the characters have been in, whether they are 2 or 3 part episodes or special TV movies. The Avengers have been through so many great adventures its hard to keep track. Yet there are a few that deserve the animated spotlight. First is the Infinity Gauntlet, one of the biggest events and one of the most over the top ones out there, having big bad Thanos taking on the Earth's greatest to stop the mad titans plan to be a god. Another is the awesome Secret Wars, but done right. They did this story line in the 90s spider-man but totally changed a lot of it around, seeing a properly done Secret Wars would be the highlight of the series. The third story line seems to be the most likely especially with showing the two races; the Kree/Skrull war taking place on Earth, I know on Wikipedia on they say it might be Secret Invasion but thats too early of a tale to tell.
These 10 are all hopeful ideas, I'm sure they will use a few of them but I will still enjoy watching the show whenever I can and continue to support them, so we can eventually see more of them and maybe expand from the 56 episodes to maybe 100 and beyond. What you all think, I like hearing feedback. Catch you all later with my reviews, ComicCritic87 OUT!!!!
