As shooting commences on Paramount's live-action Ghost In The Shell movie, we've been provided with our very first glimpse of Captain America: Civil War's Scarlett Johansson as main character, Major Motoko Kusanagi - or simply, The Major as she's referred to in the official synopsis which you can also check out below.



Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Rupert Sanders is at the helm of the anime adaptation, which is shooting in Wellington, New Zealand. Ghost In The Shell is set for release on March 31, 2017.
