Scarlett Johansson's GHOST IN THE SHELL Gets A New Release Date

The live action adaptation of the 1995 anime movie, Ghost In The Shell, was originally set to be released on April 14, 2017, but now it has received a brand new release date. Hit the jump for the details.

The Rupert Sanders (Snow White and The Huntsman) directed Ghost In The Shell film doesn't begin filming until the winter of 2016, but the film has already received an earlier release date. The live action adaptation has moved from it's origianl date of April 14, 2017 to March 31, 2017, a whole two weeks earlier than it's previous date. It is believed that this change is to avoid opening the same week as the next film in the Fast & Furious franchise, Furious 8.

The Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) with a script penned by Bill Wheeler.  Avi Arad, Steven Spielberg, and Steven Paul will be overseeing the DreamWorks Pictures production
