Ghost in the Shell is shaping up to be one of 2017's most exciting sci-fi movies, and a big part of that is because Scarlett Johansson will be playing The Major. Not an awful lot is known about what we should expect from this take on the beloved anime, but the actress shed some light on her role in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. With that comes a brand new official image which you can see below.

"I've been a person without a body, now I'm a mind in a synthetic body," she says. "Eventually I'll go back to playing a body and brain together. This is a ride that's not just explosive and exciting, but also curious and reflective." Director Rupert Sanders reiterates that point by adding that this take on Ghost in the Shell (which has some fans very worried right now), "isn't the shit Hollywood version."

Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, and Michael Pitt. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the movie is currently set to be released on March 31st, next year.
