ANT-MAN Director Peyton Reed Would Be Open To A Prequel Focusing On 'Hank Pym'

It's certain that Ant-Man (and the Wasp) has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with an appearance in Captain America: Civil War confirmed and Infinity War likely. But what does Peyton Reed say to an actual sequel, or even a prequel? Hit the jump to find out...

Ant-Man is the first case of 'passing of the mantle' in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring the original incarnation of the character, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and the second, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), working together. We know we'll see Pym in action in flashback sequences during the film, and that Rudd will suit up in next year's Captain America: Civil War, but ComicBook.com has quizzed director Peyton Reed on the possibility of exploring the characters even further.

Asked if he would be open to returning for a sequel, or even a prequel, Reed responded with enthusiasm. "Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or even a prequel, I'd be way into it," he said. "I've really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world but there's a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym." This isn't the first time we've heard interest about superhero prequels (Russell Crowe was once open to focusing on Jor-El in a Man of Steel prequel), but since Pym's heroic career in the comics is a lengthy one, this actually seems quite probable! Would you be open to a full-length film exploring Hank Pym's superhero days?
