Judy Greer Promises Plenty Of Comedy In ANT-MAN; Why Did She Love Working With Marvel?

In Ant-Man, Judy Greer will play Scott Lang's ex-wife and the mother of his daughter Cassie. Not a lot is known about what the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes actress will bring to Marvel Studios' riskiest movie to date, and IGN Movies caught up with the actress recently to discuss what it was like to join the ambitious project. "It was, in the beginning, a little scary. My first day on set for Ant-Man I did an interview and the guy asks me who my favorite superhero was. I said Batman and he goes, “That’s DC.” And then I was like, “Oh, sorry, Wonder Woman!” and he goes, “That’s DC.” So I called my agent and and literally he overnighted me this huge, beautiful hardcover book about all the Marvel superheroes and was like, “Some research for you.” So I’ve been learning about Marvel. But they treat us really well and I really like the risks they’re taking with the comedy in their superhero movies kind of starting with Guardians of the Galaxy."

So, who is Greer's favourite superhero NOW? "I just love me some Ant-Man!" she told the site before delving into what makes Paul Rudd the right man to bring the small hero to the big screen. "Paul is so awesome and he’s so great in this role. This has been my first comic hero that I’ve really researched and fallen for. I also think the Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there’s something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family." Talk then turned to the rather serious trailer and whether that reflects what is in the movie, and for those of you worrying, it still sounds like Ant-Man will be a funny movie (were you expecting any different after a rewrite from Paul Rudd and Adam McKay?). "I haven’t seen it yet but there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv. I don’t know what will end up in the movie, but yeah."
