AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor May Reveal Surprising New Details About The Scarlet Witch's Role - SPOILERS

A new rumor may reveal some new details about what we can expect from Elizabeth Olsen's long-awaited return as the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday...

Even though Elizabeth Olsen appeared to reveal that she will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars earlier this year, it's generally assumed that she will indeed be back as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in at least one of the upcoming MCU event movies.

Several scoopers claim to have "confirmed" Olsen's involvement, but there's been conflicting reports about the powerful magic-wielder's role in the story. Now, The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez has shared some "unofficial" details, and he believes that the Wanda we meet in Doomsday will actually be a variant from the same universe as The X-Men.

"[This] is a universe where Magneto is finally ruling Genosha as he had always pictured it; and we’d have like a “royal family” type of situation with Erik, Pietro, Wanda, and Polaris. This is an idea that has been pushed since Multiverse of Madness, and then Deadpool and Wolverine, but it never feels like the right fit because it feels like it takes away from the overall plot. However, the main point they would like to explore with Wanda is the father-daughter relationship with Erik."

Perez was also asked what we can expect from Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto, and replied with the following quote.

“A lifetime —several lifetimes— spent chasing haven after haven, promised land after promised land, and for what? Every time the gates of Eden slam shut in our faces, it breaks us a little more.”

If this is accurate, it would certainly be an intriguing way to reintroduce Wanda to The MCU, and X-Men fans have been hoping to see the character's dynamic with Magneto and the rest of her fellow mutants explored for many years.

Based on Perez's comments, this sounds like an idea that the studio has been kicking around for a while, and with so much already going on in Doomsday, we wouldn't be surprised if only certain elements of what's outlined above actually makes it into these movies.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were recently hit with significant delays, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

To simplify it just make her the Scarlet Witch of the FOX universe. Her, Ian McKellen, and Evan Peters as a family would be a dream!

@CrimsonComet40 - and Evan was actually in Wandavision so there's a precedence! I'm in on that

CrimsonComet40 - Ian McKellen being her father and Evan Peters being her brother wouldn't make any sense, we already saw her brother in "Age of Ultron" and he was Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

This multiverse thing is being very poorly handled and it's just a mess so far.

@SethBullock - No, it would be callback to WandaVision, where Evan Peters was 'Pietro'
SethBullock
SethBullock - 9/16/2025, 11:39 PM
@JackDeth - But he was not really "Pietro", he was "Something Boner" (can't remember his exact name now), his real brother still is Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

That's why it doesn't make any sense that in the Illuminati universe/timeline everybody looked the same that they look in the main MCU timeline and their Xavier looked like Patrick Stewart, because that should mean that every other X-Men character in the main MCU timeline should also look like the Fox-Men, however in the main MCU timeline Quicksilver looked like Aaron while the Fox-Men Quicksilver looked like Evan Peters and should be much much older because the movies where he appeared as Peters were set in the 70s or the 80s while the MCU Quicksilver played by Aaron was still young in Age of Ultron that was set in the last decade, while this Boner guy also looked like a young Fox-Men Quicksilver in the current decade, it just doesn't make any sense and it's all a mess, but her brother was Aaron's Quicksilver seen in AOU, not the other guy.

@SethBullock - Different universes bro, think a little. In the multiverse anything is possible.

@Urubrodi - Anything in the multiverse being possible shouldn't be an excuse for bad writing or to do things unnecessarily extra confusing imo.

With infinite universes, could there be an universe where Doom looks like Tony Stark? Maybe.

But does that mean that it's a good idea to cast RDJ as Doom and that it won't be unnecessarily confusing for all the people that are used to see RDJ playing Iron Man for so many years as his biggest and most well known role in the same movie franchise?

Does that mean that it wouldn't have been a much better idea to just cast someone else for the Doom role and maybe bring RDJ as a Tony variant who is not also a Doom variant?

Could there be a timeline/universe where Ian McKellen's Magneto had a daughter when he was 50 and that for some reason her brother looked like a young Aaron Taylor Johnson in one timeline in 2015 and as a young Evan Peters in another timeline in 1973?

And could be possible that that second brother had a variant that looked like Johnson in 2015 and another one that looked like him (Peters) but was called "Something Bohner" in the same main MCU timeline, but that this Bohner guy instead of being a young Peters in 1973 was a young Peters in 2021? Maybe, but WHY?

And if everybody in the Illuminati timeline in MoM looked exactly the same way they look in the main MCU timeline and their Xavier looked like Patrick Stewart, shouldn't that mean that the Xavier in the main MCU timeline should also look like Patrick Stewart and that all the other X-Men in the main MCU timeline should also look like the Fox-Men, including Quicksilver?

Wouldn't that mean that the new X-Men with a whole new cast that will be supposedly introduced in a future movie post Doomsday and post Secret Wars will have to be from a different timeline like the Fantastic Four?

All of this is unnecessarily confusing and just bad writing, justified because they need to bring back the Fox-Men, RDJ, Tobey Maguire, etc, to sell tickets via nostalgia.

At least with Spidey they gave the role of the main MCU variant to a new guy first and brought Maguire and Garfield as variants from other timelines/universes later (too soon in a mostly bad movie imo), even if they made the mistake of bringing back Dafoe or Molina before introducing the MCU versions of Osborn or Octavius, but at least it was made clear that they came from other universes/timelines where eveeybody else didn't look exactly the same.

It would have been much better and easier to introduce the new proper MCU X-Men, the new proper MCU Fantastic Four (before Krasinski in MoM if they didn't plan to cast him for the FF movie), the new proper MCU Spidey villains gallery, etc, and then maybe bring the old actors back later as variants from other universes to sell even more tickets in a Secret Wars movie with Kang or with a Doom who doesn't have Tony Stark's face.

But I'm not Kevin Feige, so I guess nobody cares about my opinion.

MCU is mostly a sinking ship now, though.

At least compared to how successful it could still be if they had done so many things differently.

These new Avengers movies I doubt they'll make as much money as they could have made if Feige had done a muuuch better job after Endgame. 🤷

@lazlodaytona - I like it. They could use the tie in for why he was in Wandavision...whole multiverse thing. easy to tie that one in using ol' Bohner.
AgentofSH1ELD
AgentofSH1ELD - 9/18/2025, 7:20 AM
@SethBullock - but 3 different looking spidermen are ok? and you saw the different Wolvie variants. Deadpool ones. Dr Strange ones.
All of them look different.
SethBullock
SethBullock - 9/22/2025, 10:04 AM
@AgentofSH1ELD - 3 completely different looking Spidermen shouldn't be ok, I would prefer if most of the variants of the same characters were played by the same actors, even if they look different playing each variant, for example one having longer hair, or looking slightly older, or taller, or having a beard, idk...

If I made these multiverse movies, most Spidey variants would look like Holland, like most Loki variants should look like Hiddleston or most Kang variants should look like Majors, and that way it's easier for the viewers to understand that they are just variants of the same character.

But in an infinite multiverse, I guess I can also accept that a character could have an infinite variation of faces or looks, so it's possible that there are many Spider-Men who look like Holland, many Spider-Men who look like Maguire or Garfield, many Spider-Men who look like Danny DeVito, or even an infinite number of Spider-Men who look like me.

Problem is when you are making everything extra unnecessarily confusing, like I explained in my previous message.

It would be easier to understand if they had used Pascal as Reed in MoM instead of Krasinski, because if everybody else looked like all the characters we had seen earlier in the main MCU, that should mean there is a Reed in the main MCU who also looks like Krasinski.

And if in that universe/timeline Xavier looks like Stewart, that should mean Wolverine should look like Jackman and Cyclops like Marsden, and every other mutant character should look like the Fox-Men in that timeline/universe where everybody else (Strange, Mordo, Christine, Peggy, Wanda, etc) look like the characters in the main MCU, so the X-Men in the main MCU timeline should also look like the Fox-Men.

However Quicksilver in the main MCU timeline doesn't look like a very old Evan Peters, he looked like Aaron Tylor-Johnson.

They just made everything unnecessarily complex and confusing when they should have just cast the new Fantastic Four and the new X-Men first, introduce them in the MCU movies, and LATER maybe do these nostalgia multiverse crossovers bringing actors from the old movies as variants in a Secret Wars movie (or in several movies).

Like they did with Spider-Man, they didn't bring Maguire back first and introduced Holland's variant later, because that would have been stupid and unnecessarily confusing, most people would have asked where was Maguire and who was this new Spider-Kid that no one cared about.

If they reboot Magneto, they must keep his WW2 concentration camp escape origins intact (and hopefully have Cap and Wolverine free him). That might require a secondary mutation explanation that says he ages a bit slower than a normal human (as we get further and further away from that time period), but that is essential. He has the best villain origin in comics!
McMurdo
McMurdo - 9/16/2025, 5:57 PM
@Bucky74 - yeah you cant get rid of the Holocaust angle. They'll have to just give him longer life or something to make it work. It's fundamental to his characterization.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 9/16/2025, 5:59 PM
@Bucky74 - I kinda was wondering how the MCU was gonna handle a character like Magneto whose origins are firmly rooted in a specific time period that we are going farther and farther away from in reality.
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/16/2025, 6:27 PM
@McMurdo - A secondary mutation that slows his aging (without a full healing factor) is an easy fix that works well.
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/16/2025, 6:31 PM
@lazlodaytona - Professor X: “Magneto can control the entire magnetic field”

Scott: “You said he was born in the early 30’s” “Shouldn't he be in his late 90s?”

Professional X: “Eric has a secondary mutation that slows his aging.” “He was already in his …. when I first met my friend”

Problem solved
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 9/16/2025, 7:23 PM
@Bucky74 - isn't Ian M around 90ish? Hell, he looked like it all the way back to the first X-Men
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/16/2025, 7:26 PM
@lazlodaytona - That's why he is still great as Magneto, but a new, younger actor would require that minor tweak.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 9/16/2025, 7:30 PM
@Bucky74 - dead-on good point
McMurdo

They're wasting all the stuff we wanna see in the MCU xmen reboot within this film. The costumes, Magento's family. Dont get me wrong the Fox men angle is the only interesting aspect of Doomsday in my opinion but it makes me wonder if theyre setting themselves up to fail a bit with the Schreier reboot.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 9/16/2025, 6:02 PM
@McMurdo - well, the MCU pulled it off amazingly (pun totally intended) with the previous Spiderman films....
However, there's a tad more X-Men to incorporate. Yet, I still wanna see how they close the chapter of the Fox-Men since it was so integral to the comicbook movie surge of the past 2&1/2 decades.
SethBullock
SethBullock - 9/16/2025, 8:14 PM
@McMurdo - I think it's a HUGE mistake to reintroduce variants from the old movies just for nostalgic reasons before introducing the proper MCU main timeline versions of the same characters.

And it's also wrong doing it the way they are doing it, for example in MoM everybody looked the same in the Illuminati timeline but Xavier looked like Patrick Stewart, so the Xavier and all the other X-Men in the main timeline should also look like the Fox-Men actors.

And who knows what are they going to do with the X-Men now in Doomsday and Secret Wars, to me it seems like they just don't know wtf they are doing, best example the RDJ casting for Doom...

Interesting if true , the “Royal Family” idea really reminds me of House of M…

I could see this being the case in the X-Men reality we’ll see in this (which I already think has only a handful left) where a lot of mutants went to Magneto perhaps due to the apparent Sentinel attacks given we have seen set pics of a destroyed one around the X-Mansion hence he’s been able to build this mutant haven with his kids.

I wonder who would be playing Polaris or perhaps they just went with Wanda & Pietro ultimately (whether the latter is ATJ or Evan Peters) so we’ll see there.

Anyway , I could see this Magneto perhaps joining up with Doom and ultimately becoming one of his lords on Battleworld in order to preserve his family & home!!.
