AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Points To Reed Richards Having "A Lot Of Interactions" With Doctor Doom

Though Doctor Doom is expected to target Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, it sounds like we will still get to see the villain interact with his longtime comic book nemesis, Reed Richards...

Though he has obviously faced-off against plenty of other heroes over the years, Doctor Doom was always best-known as a Fantastic Four foe, with the leader of the team, Reed Richards, emerging as the megalomaniacal villain's nemesis.

Doom was (briefly) introduced in the mid-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but some fans were worried that they may not get the opportunity to see this long-standing rivalry carry over to the big screen in Avengers: Doomsday.

It did seem like a valid enough concern, especially after scooper MTTSH recently described Doomsday as "Civil War 2" since it will once again focus on Chris Evans facing-off against Robert Downey Jr. The context will be very different this time, of course, but it sounds like Evans' Nomad vs. RDJ's Doom might end up being the main focus of the movie.

Fortunately, it doesn't sound like Marvel Studios intends to completely ignore the Reed/Doom dynamic. According to a new post from MTTSH, Richards will still have "a major role" in the movie, and a "lot of interactions with Doom."

Though we're sure they will ultimately clash, there is a chance that Doom and Mr. Fantastic will start out as "allies," since Victor is expected to use his resemblance to Tony Stark to gain the heroes' trust (you can learn more about Doom's motivations here).

We'll get our first official look at Doomsday in a few weeks when the trailer is released, but a lot of fake "leaks" have been doing the rounds online, and some of these AI-assisted images are pretty convincing.

The latest feature Doctor Strange, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel and Loki, and have fooled a lot of people. Twitter is acting up at the moment and won't allow embeds, but you can click HERE to take a look.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were recently hit with significant delays, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

After they kill off Doom in Secret Wars, hopefully they'll cast RDJ as Hyperion or Graviton.

I hope we do indeed see a fair amount of interaction between Pedro’s Reed & RDJ Doom’s , especially if the latter is also from Earth 828…

Granted we wouldn’t have seen the history between these iterations but I do think both actors are capable enough to make you feel it through their conversations but we’ll see.

I can honestly see perhaps Doom manipulating Sam’s team by using his face & such for his own ends but it’s ultimately Reed and the rest of the FF alongside Yelena’s Avengers that thwart that aspect of his plan.

Anyway , looking forward to seeing more of Pedro’s Reed since I liked him quite a bit in First Steps!!.

Well, with Sue girl boss leading things and Hollywood as it is, maybe Doom will be romancing beta Pedro by asking him out for cosmos at the Polo Bar.

@newhire13 -

Wow. I never heard that term, so I googled it. It says it's a phrase only a gay guy would use. I choose to ignore your entreaty.

@newhire13 - Why are you focused on another man's dick? Got something to say?

Oh good they'll have a lot of interactions with each other. Yeah. Okay then I guess that makes it okay that they have no history together, Doom might not even be from their universe and Cap will be his arch rival instead.

Doesn’t make sense to me to call these 2 movies Avengers movies, when X-men and F4 will play a pivotal role in on both of these movies. Why not call it something like Marvels Doomsday or Marvels Secret Wars.

@Yetiman - For the same reason that Infinity War and Endgame were called Avenger's despite having other teams

@Yetiman - Having Avengers in the title carries a lot of weight still with normies who may skip a lot of the solo films at the cinema and it will still feature teams going by the title of Avengers TOO plus using nostalgia bait of prior cast in trailers to ALSO sell it to FoxMen fans.

I get your point but using Avengers basicaly to signal to the GA this is a major crossover must see event regardless which characters/teams are in it is fair and better than going with Avengers V Xmen as a title for Doomsday IMO which they easily could have.
