First AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Trailer Rumored To Be Heading Our Way Much Sooner Than Expected

If a new rumour is to be believed, we could be getting a first look at Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday much sooner than anyone anticipated. And yes, it could be heading our way later this year...

Avengers: Doomsday was originally scheduled to be released in theaters next May, the same month every other movie starring Earth's Mightiest Heroes has found such huge success.

To give the Russo Brothers more time to deliver two of the final chapters in Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga, the movie is now heading our way next December. Avengers: Secret Wars will follow in December 2027 in what's shaping up to be a relatively quiet Phase 6 (only Spider-Man: Brand New Day is sandwiched between them).

Despite this significant delay, it sounds like we'll get a first look at Avengers: Doomsday much sooner than expected. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, a "first look" will be attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash when it arrives in theaters on December 19.

We'd bet on that preview being a theater-exclusive, not dissimilar to how the Avatar threequel and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey were teased. An online release is sure to follow, of course, and bootlegs will inevitably leak.

Richtman has a solid track record, particularly with trailers, so we'd say there's likely something to this rumour.

A year between a trailer and the movie's release may seem like a lot, but Disney needs to restore faith in the MCU, and a brief sneak peek—even if it's just a few snippets of footage and a first look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom—would go a long way in building excitement.

Heck, even if it's a shot of Doom and a glimpse of the Avengers and X-Men squaring off, that's going to be more than enough to make Avengers: Doomsday feel like an event (something which doesn't currently seem to be the case with so many big-name characters missing from the cast).

Could this impending Avengers: Doomsday trailer debut be what the Russo Brothers were hinting at in their recent Instagram post? You can take a closer look below before letting us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman all make their Avengers franchise debuts in the movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, as do X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Ryan Reynolds are also set to appear, according to recent reports from the trades.

The Russo Brothers direct the movie from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness's Michael Waldron is also working on the script.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

Of course there'll be a trailer with the biggest movie of the year

@bobevanz - When it said "sooner than expected" I was thinking like, next week lol. Before the end of the year seemed like a no-brainer--hence the "scooper" spitting this out. They are collectively wrong so many times that it just isn't worth listening to them anyway.

@SteviesRightFoo - anime slop kills right now. for whatever reason. that series is incredibly mid too.

@RealTurner - Yeah Avatar was expected. Sooner than expected would have been Tron.
UnderBelly
UnderBelly - 10/2/2025, 9:58 AM
@mountainman - Im doubtful it will be for Tron. The new avatar trailer will play there. Defintiley a Doomsday traler for Avatar 3 though...and I reckon maybe a sneak peek as Avatar isnt tracking as well as the Last one did, which makes sense as there was less time between this and the last one compared to the first gap. They need to build the hype. No doubt it will still make bank though.

@UnderBelly - Avatar was always the expected place for this trailer debut. Even if it earns less than the second one, it’ll no doubt be Disney’s biggest movie this year and there is a ton of audience crossover. I never expected Tron. Just commenting on how Avatar is not “earlier than expected”.

@McMurdo - im a fan of anime, I tried to watch demon slayer and couldn't finish it. Really generic shounen dressed up in nice animation

@RegularPoochie - trailer is gonna be a voiceover most likely repeating old clips from previous movies and then right at the end will be like one shot of the avengers lol.

@TheVisionary27 - almost just like endgame teaser. I'm pretty sure that they filmed some of the scenes just for the trailer tho.

Welp I guess I'm gonna have to watch Avatar 2 at some point before Dec 19 then because I'm first in line for the third one now. Or maybe I'll just stay for the trailer and then leave before the movie begins.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 10/2/2025, 9:52 AM
@ObserverIO - the 2nd one is far better than the first due to Sigourney and Britain Dalton's characters. it's fun. still nothing super special and is mostly eye porn but the characters have more to do than the first film. It's fun just seeing Cameron's designs for vehicles in vehicular warfare and such. brings me back to seeing Aliens for the first time as a kid.

@McMurdo - I agree. Second one is better than the original. I like the general’s arc in the sequel. Also the VFX and cinematography are out of this world.

I'll just wait for it to go online about 24 hours after it premieres.

Honestly makes sense tbh since Avatar is one of the few big releases left in the year if not the biggest so feels right for it to have a teaser/preview of Doomsday aswell…

If so then I don’t expect much in terms of story to be revealed but wouldn’t be surprised if we get a narration and first look in action of RDJ’s Dr Doom which I would be down for!!.

Didn’t the first infinity war trailer come out in December? That would follow tradition regardless of the movie coming out a year later. The movie was originally coming early next year anyway

I can think of at least one person who does.

Not a whole lot of self-awareness involved with him, though.

Curious to see what they end up putting on film but have to admit that I just don't feel any excitement anymore. The first Avengers movie was so hype. Wish I could experience that again.

@TheVisionary27 - I think we are way beyond the Covid excuse. At some point, the studios need to take accountability. Marvel underperformed and lost money on three movies this year. Last year, Deadpool did over 1B. We can't give them credit when they win and not achknowledge multiple years of mistakes leading to the studio dwindling.

Marvel Studios was the biggest, most successful movie franchise in history. Then, they ran it into the ground.

Well I hope Doom looks more impressive than the home brew cosplay costume in the FF trailer. Give the character some WEIGHT.

Camera pullback to reveal the full shot of Doom with his outstretched hand overseeing that classic scrimmage line of Avengers v X-Men...! ☮️😉

Sooo....not so much a "Trailer" as much as it more likely will be a Teaser.

And one probably not showing really very much.

Awareness for Avengers: Doomsday with normal moviegoers is at zero.

Also: Excitement with people who know that it's coming is low.

A good trailer is important to build awareness and excitement.

The problem is: Spiderman 4 is the next MCU movie, not A:D.

Spiderman 4 should be hyped up first, but that one is still shooting, where as A5 has wrapped and is in post.

Spiderman 4 has a finished script, though.
Doomsday hasn't.

I am looking forward to SM4, but the leaked script of A:D doesn't excite me at all.
