As the end of the Multiverse Saga beckons, all eyes are on Marvel Studios to see how it ends a surprisingly hit-and-miss, often divisive, era of storytelling.

Avengers: Endgame helmers the Russo Brothers have returned to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and the expectation is that we'll get a soft reboot in the latter's aftermath. With that, the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man will all exist on the same timeline. That was hard to fathom even five short years ago.

Most fans seem to agree that Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova ranks among the best characters to come out of this Saga. The British actress has so far stolen the show in Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Thunderbolts*, and now leads The New Avengers alongside Bucky Barnes.

It's been reported that she'll also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and scooper @MyTimeToShineH is today reporting, "Yelena will have a HUGE role in both Avengers films and a few scenes in Spider-Man Brand New Day."

We have no idea what brings together Peter Parker and Yelena in the next Spider-Man movie, but perhaps she's looking to expand the ranks of the New Avengers?

As for her role in the upcoming Avengers movies, we know Yelena will assemble her team in Doomsday; meanwhile, leaked concept art has suggested she'll be among those serving Doctor Doom in his new "Battleworld" reality.

The insider has also shared a familiar rumour by noting that Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch is indeed set to appear in Doomsday and Secret Wars. If previous rumours are to be believed, she'll be portrayed as Doctor Doom's "bride," and perhaps even the daughter of Magneto on Earth 10005.

Back to Yelena, and when we last saw her, she was shocked to see the Fantastic Four's Excelsior spaceship rocketing toward Earth. In a new promo for the Digital release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, you may spot a familiar website...

Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman all make their Avengers franchise debuts in the movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, as do X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Ryan Reynolds are also set to appear, according to recent reports from the trades.

The Russo Brothers direct the movie from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness's Michael Waldron is also working on the script.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

This character is just not good

@SteviesRightFoo - I strongly disagree. I didn´t love her in the Black Widow movie, but she was a hilarious scene stealer in Hawkeye and I love her in Thunderbolts. She´s funny but also really relatable if you´ve ever been depressed. Her scene with David Harbour always makes me tear up. She´s an amazing character.

And also, Florence Hugh is just super hot!!

@SteviesRightFoo - I've found her to be a better Black Widow and all round character than ScarJo ever was as Nat, opinions will vary and all of that but she is a brilliant actor who fully brings the character to life.

NOW, if the critique is how the character has been used in the likes of the Black Widow film, or lower than average views of Hawkeye as a series/Thunderbolts as a film there may be a fair point. To that I simply say with better writing she could easily become one of the best characters ever in the MCU IMO up there with RDJ's Tony Stark and Chris Evan's Cpt America.

I mean ultimately it is why many of us a still open for more Ms Marvel too, was there ample problems with her series and the film she was in, absolutely. However we can still LOVE and see the potential of a good actor/character combo even if they've only appeared in shows/films with low review scores and major writing issues.

@SteviesRightFoo - Agreed. I don't think she's good, but Marvel is determined to shove her down our throats.

@DenvertheDino - probably because she's a leading woman. I know you'd rather have something phallic shoved down your throat instead

@Vigor - Cute. First, I have no problem with a leading woman. What I do have a problem with is a leading woman who's not good. For example, I thought ScarJo, Olsen and Gadot were awesome in their films and I would pay money to see more of their films.
Second, regarding your sexual fantasies, please keep them to yourself. What you and your "friends" do in the dark should stay in the dark.

Tough exterior, sucky upbringing, high level of loyalty, charming in a blue collar sense. She's really grown on me since Thunderbolts. Don't screw her up.

I'd like to see Yelena get some tactical training with S.W.O.R.D.

Throw in some interdumensional weaponry via them and GoTG, and turn her into a gadget master.

Doodoopaypa
Doodoopaypa - 9/26/2025, 8:32 AM
In the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge deal, but can't let it go. THERE'S NO REASON FOR HER TO HAVE AN ACCENT. She was raised in America, you don't learn a language from birth, move to a different country, then start speaking as if you just picked up that first language. Especially if you're a f-ing spy.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/26/2025, 9:48 AM
@Doodoopaypa - For how long exactly? Think at most three years total

Yes she was trained as a young child to speak clear English but that was when she was 3 to 6yrs old, the remaining 21yrs of her life were all primarily in Russia outside of missions with little evidence she continued to be trained as in infiltrator able to switch accent as her and Nat diverged at that point in specific training programmes at the Red Room. From what we were shown, NAT was trained primarily as an infiltrator type spy, whereas Yelena was primarily JUST a trained assassin, differing skillset requirements even if some overlap.

The prior three years or so to her being in the US as a kid would have all in Russia too, she WAS born in Russia thus Russian always her FIRST language after all.

ALL of that said, it wouldn't have been unreasonable if she were still able to immitate an American accent, I tend to like that she retains a native Russian one however.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 9/26/2025, 8:45 AM
Interesting if true…

I could see Yelena on the periphery more as she scouts for more members of her team with Peter being one during which approaches him at the end but he rejects her offer (she maybe even helps him out with the baddies in the film?).

Anyway I could see her and Peter having good chemistry so looking forward to seeing Pugh & Holland together on screen especially since they both have wanted to work with each for awhile!!.
FallenThomas
FallenThomas - 9/26/2025, 9:54 AM
@Doodoopaypa - 100% disagree. Two main reasons - 1) She spent years in Russia, training in the Red Room so would undoubtedly pick up an accent 2) Her accent plays in to her personality perfectly and is pretty hot. As an 'f-ing spy' she could easily drop the accent when required, as Natasha did. Florence as the new Black (White) Widow is PERFECT casting and my favourite actor/character outside of the 'Originals'.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 9/26/2025, 10:11 AM
@FallenThomas - she's honestly a better & more accurate Black Widow than Black Widow ever was.
FallenThomas
FallenThomas - 9/26/2025, 10:19 AM
@McMurdo - Hmm not sure about that. LOVED what Scarlett did with what I always thought was a throwaway character and she's a big miss. However, Florence has given something fresh and quirkier. Wish we still had both tbh.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/26/2025, 10:54 AM
@FallenThomas - DID love ScarJo but they kinda Americanised the character too much and was dumb to remove the source accurate Super Serum from her entirely (and give it to Bucky instead who never did in the comics). So I half miss Nat but as I prefer Pugh's Yelena as a Black Widow it isn't something I dwell on or feel the need for Nat to return even if a reunion could make for an interesting narrative to return to for the Sisters. In regard to female spy characters with Marvel the one I actualy miss more is Adrianne Palicki's Bobby Morse and would love her to turn up and get the big screen treatment (even if they also go with Clint's wife being A Mockingbird, they could play with the idea one passed the codenumber/name to the other).
FallenThomas
FallenThomas - 9/26/2025, 11:10 AM
@Apophis71 - Our current faux Captain America's lack of super serum is more of an issue for me but I get what you mean. I always like the idea of a dark, morally ambiguous Natasha resurrected by Wanda's dark magic, devoid of emotion, joining the Midnight Suns. An irresistible assassin, all sex appeal and deadly intent.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/26/2025, 11:21 AM
@FallenThomas - I don't mind a non enhance placeholder as Cap and didn't in the comics either as interesting alt take on a figurehead role, the original always returned in the comics in such cases and likely the same in the MCU at some point OR Sam will eventualy get the serum.

I like the idea of a variant/resurrected Nat fully dark and seductive turning up but to work effectively it would need to be ScarJo if so. A recast of Nat wouldn't have the same impact, may as well be a new character who was also a Black Widow otherwise beyond the how does Yelena react if her Sis returns but is evil.
FallenThomas
FallenThomas - 9/26/2025, 11:26 AM
@Apophis71 - Exactly. ScarJo is slightly exotic girl next door hot and would play that role with a natural eroticism. Also, as you say, the dynamic with Yelena reacting to an indifferent, evil sister would be great.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 9/26/2025, 5:41 PM
@FallenThomas - Scarlett never felt like Widow to me.

Still outrageous that some guys think she's "hot" merely because she's in movies.

@PartyKiller - it's subjective man
PartyKiller
PartyKiller - 9/27/2025, 5:13 AM
@Vigor - If the same guys were checking out in a store and she never went into movies but was a cashier, they wouldn't think she was so hot.

Lhornbk
Lhornbk - 9/26/2025, 1:49 PM
Okay, so while I have liked her character overall, especially in Black Widow and Hawkeye (having her depressed through much of Thunderbolts was stupid), I think saying that "most fans" seem to think she's the best to come out of this saga is a huge stretch. I haven't heard that much love for her. I loved her interactions with Natasha and with Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, she can be a great character, but they need to use her the right way. Thunderbolts didn't really do that.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 9/26/2025, 2:48 PM
@Lhornbk - Peoples rankings will vary but the names I most oft hear that are the best NEW characters of this saga regardless quality of their respective films/shows have tended to mostly include Yelena, along with Kate Bishop and Ms Marvel. There ARE other some love which may come top such as Moon Knight for instance but truly new ones, Yelena tends to be in most folks top five at least, most oft one of the top two (that is prior to seeing how any rank the F4 members however).

Out of interest what are your top three new characters introduced in this saga?
