Marvel Studios currently has six release dates scheduled for the next few years and it's not overly difficult to figure out what they are.
Black Widow,
The Eternals,
Shang-Chi,
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,
Black Panther 2,
Captain Marvel 2, and
Doctor Strange 2 are all in various stages of development, and while there are bound to be some surprises, those are the most likely candidates.
Still, an official announcement would definitely be appreciated and now that
Avengers: Endgame is in theaters, we're all waiting with bated breath to find out what comes next.
Well, during a quarterly earnings call with investors last night, Iger strongly indicated that Marvel Studios will announce its Phase 4 slate at some point over the summer. Common sense says that will happen either at the San Diego Comic-Con or at the D23 Expo in Anaheim the following month.
Interestingly, Iger also noted that fans should look to
Avengers: Endgame for clues about where things will go next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"There are huge opportunities," he teased.
"There are many many different directions that we can go."
Chances are that the Phase 4 slate reveal will include the Disney+ TV shows, so it's going to be an exciting time to be a fan of the MCU over the next few years. Something we probably shouldn't expect to see, though, are new movies for the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters as they likely won't start factoring into proceedings until Phase 5.
