AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - James Gunn And Chris Pratt Were Responsible For Changing One Huge Scene

Avengers: Infinity War managed to find the time to put the spotlight on the relationship between Star-Lord and Gamora and one of the movie's most heartbreaking moments came when Peter Quill pointed his blaster at the women he loves and pulled the trigger in order to fulfil his promise to her that he would kill her before letting her be taken be Thanos (which would stop him getting the Soul Stone).

Unfortunately for both of the heroes, Thanos used the Reality Stone to turn that blast into bubbles but the whole sequence very nearly never happened. In an earlier draft of the script, Star-Lord was unable to keep his promise but Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Chris Pratt campaigned to have that changed to what we saw on screen and they were ultimately successful in their endeavours.

"The more I think about it, the better it is that it got changed," Avengers: Infinity War writer Stephen McFeely revealed during a recent interview. Christopher McFeely explained that the moment is thematically correct for the movie given what else happens, a sentiment echoed by McFeely: "Thanos has that same choice later [to kill Gamora], and he chooses to do it and succeeds. Wanda has that same choice later [with The Vision]. A lot of characters have really tough choices to make."

What do you think about these remarks? Was changing this big moment in Avengers: Infinity War ultimately for the best? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section below.
