Disney Submits BLACK PANTHER For All Awards Categories, Including Best Picture And Best Director

The Oscars may have already ditched that new "Popular" category but Disney and Marvel Studios clearly aren't going to shy away from giving Black Panther a serious awards push moving into next year...

Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon, a box office hit, and a critical darling so what about that makes it ineligible to be considered for some key categories at next year's Academy Awards? The fact it has a superhero in it, of course! Regardless, Disney isn't shying away from giving it a push as they've launched a "For Your Consideration" page putting the movie forward for, well, pretty much everything!

A "Best Picture" nomination does feel like it's deserved because Black Panther is up there with The Dark Knight and it's made a bigger impact than any of the other Oscar favourites probably ever will.

Unfortunately, the Academy and most other awards bodies still don't give comic book adaptations their due so it's unlikely T'Challa's first solo outing will get much attention next year. We could be surprised, though, so we'll have to wait and see! What do you guys think? Share your thoughts down below.
