Marvel Comics released the first issue of Blood Hunt last Wednesday, with the event's opening chapter revealing how the vampire invasion of Earth begins.

With the world's Darkforce users being turned into portals which have blocked out the sun across the globe, vampires emerge from the shadows, feeding on humans and turning countless others.

The Avengers also found themselves outmatched and outgunned, with Black Panther and Thor both killed in a battle with a group of ultra-vampires known as the Bloodcoven.

In the issue's closing moments, Doctor Strange discovers a spell which will kill every vampire on Earth. It means eliminating some of his friends, but it's a sacrifice he's willing to make if it saves the planet.

Blade shows up and recaps what's happened, including the fact a vampire cult known as "The Structure" has enacted a plan which will allow them to finally make the world their own.

With that, the Daywalker reveals that he's their leader and proceeds to stab the Sorcerer Supreme with one of his trusty swords! Yes, Blade is Blood Hunt's big bad, a twist no one saw coming which has established him as one of the Marvel Universe's biggest baddies.

In this first look at Blood Hunt tie-in Doctor Strange #15, we see the aftermath of that big moment. Artist Pasqual Ferry puts his own spin on that fateful moment when Blade stabs Strange, and we then see the hero-turned-villain sink his teeth into the Sorcerer to transform him into a vampire!

Blood Hunt writer Jed MacKay is also writing this series, so it should be a must-read to learn more about what's coming in Blood Hunt #2.

"Grotesque!" MacKay previously said when asked to describe the event. "Essentially the world has been caught by surprise by vampires and shadowy creatures. This is an ambush on the entire planet. There is tone of desperation."

"Desperation I think would be the largest theme there, but the superheroes are going to rally. They're going to fight the good fight, no matter how dark the skies are, no matter how bleak the odds are."

Check out this first look at Doctor Strange #15 below.

Strange doesn’t ‘discover’ that spell in the issue. He’s going back to the old well, it’s the spell that he canonically used to previously get rid of all vampires back in the day when the comics code came in and you couldn’t put vampires (and other monsters) in your comic

Strange got straight up cut in half at the end of the Red Band edition of Blood Hint #1. Hoping the Red Band of issue 2 starts with that and not just the stab.
