Marvel Comics Announces FALLEN FRIEND: THE DEATH OF [SPOILER] One-Shot

Marvel Comics is clearly okay with spoiling this massive character death, but we're going to add the tag just in case you'd rather be surprised by the events of The Amazing Spider-Man #26...

Earlier today, the news leaked online that Marvel Comics was planning to kill off a major character in The Amazing Spider-Man #26 later this month. We kept the reveal under a spoiler tag, but Marvel has now officially confirmed the big twist by announcing a new one-shot which will deal with the aftermath of the hero's death.

If you've managed to avoid knowing who is set to meet their maker, major spoilers follow.

Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, is not long for this world. The character will reportedly sacrifice herself in the upcoming issue to protect Spidey and several other heroes. Exact details on how she ultimately falls still haven't been disclosed, but based on the following preview pages, The Emissary will be involved.

We fully expected Marvel Comics to place more of a focus on Khan with The Marvels on its way to the big screen, so this is a pretty big surprise. We can't see Khan staying dead (does anyone?) for very long, but it'll be interesting to see how and when she's resurrected.

If she does come back, could it be as a Mutant and not an Inhuman in order to bring the hero more in line with her live-action counterpart?
