For some of you, when you think of "The Defenders," heroes like Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist likely come to mind. However, in the comic books, the team is vastly different, and has frequently seen heroes like Doctor Strange, Hulk, Silver Surfer, and Namor the Sub-Mariner assemble.
Now, the team is coming back, but they're seemingly going to look a lot different.
In a teaser image shared by Marvel Comics, we see that Doctor Strange is looking to assemble the "New Defenders," while The Masked Raider is shown by his side. That character is a relatively new addition to the Marvel Universe and is a reimagined version of an obscure Golden Age hero. He wears the Eternity Mask, the focal point of Marvel Comics #1000, and is likely the first member of this team.
Who do we see on those Tarot Cards? Well, there's Beast, Cloud, Daimon Hellstrom, Harpy, Hulk, Moondragon, Namor, Silver Surfer, and Valkyrie, so it looks like we're getting a mix of A-List superheroes and some characters who have perhaps been a little overlooked on the page in recent years.
Artist Javier Rodriguez came up with this awesome teaser image, but there's no word on a writer.
