5 Short/Low Budget Films MARVEL Should Make With NETFLIX

We all know about the upcoming Netflix/Marvel TV Shows. I wanted to write an article on that, but I wasn't too interested. I was thinking about the shows and then an idea came to mind. What if Marvel started making low budget small films for smaller/darker characters. I'm not talking about One-Shot's though. I want the unsung heroes, anti-heroes, and even villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be done right on screen. Click the jump to see the top 5 characters who I think should get the short film treatment.

Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. These are all Marvel Comics characters that are getting their own miniseries on Netflix. After that each one will come together in the Avengers like team up The Defenders. I was thinking about writing an article on what I wanted to see in these shows and an idea came to mind. These series are not officially (but most likely are) canon, but the purpose is still to introduce lesser known and darker street heroes to the audiences. Many fans want characters to get series like Daredevil and Co. My proposal is to have some of these characters be introduced in smaller budget 30-90 minute films. I started thinking of characters that should get this treatment and the following came to mind. So sit back relax and enjoy the ride!

5. Hawkeye & Black Widow - Budapest

Trained by criminals and inspired by heroes, Clint Barton has grown from a troubled youth into one of the greatest heroes on Earth. The world knows him best as Hawkeye: Earth's Mightiest Marksman.

Former KGB agent Natasha Romanova, known as Black Widow, is one of the greatest spies ever and is one of the best agents S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever had. She's a long-time member of the Avengers and was a founding member and the only leader of the short-lived Los Angeles-based superteam: The Champions.

Come on, we all know we want to see this. Ever since we saw this and this one screen we've all wanted to know what really happened in Budapest. I have an idea, and this is what I'd want to see in a short film. Agent Clint Barton of the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division, also known as SHIELD, is sent on a mission to Budapest to kill Agent Natasha Romanoff of the KGB. He gets there, searches for her, finds her, and they have an epic fight/chase scene. Hawkeye gains the upperhand and has to kill her, but decides not to and leaves. It'd be like a classic espionage film with action, some romance, thrills, and awesomeness! Of course Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner would return.

4. Blade - Vampire Hunter

A human-vampire hybrid with all the strengths but none of the weaknesses of a traditional vampire, Blade has dedicated his life to destroying the occult world of vampires and all who associate with them.

Blade is a BAMF (if you don't know what that means you are not one and need to Google it). I think that Blade would be a hero that fits perfectly in to the darker universe the Netflix shows would provide. He could bring a mystical side to the table without going to the levels Thor or Doc Strange go. On top of that Vampire's have been ruined in modern pop culture. Despite the trend dying out after Breaking Dawn Part II, the most recent incarnation of the infamous creatures are shining pretty boys that have gel come out of their head every morning (how else does his hair get like that). I'd love to see a fight scene where Blade is slicing through Vamps and one looks similar to Robert Pattinson's Edwardo

The film would focus on Blade just moving through some Vamps.  He'd be in the UK (where he was born) trying to stop a Vampire Cult from resurrecting their lord, Dracula. He'd move pretty far up in to the cult and kill a lot of mothersuckers (get it), but he'd reach Dracula right as he's being resurrected. Leaving it open for a sequel. I'd be about 45 minutes long and more story would be provided to help carry it. I'd love to see Michael Jai White in the role. He's a trained MMA fighter and is a BAMF as well.

3. The Winter Soldier - Coolest Sidekick Ever
(SPOILERS FOR CA:TWS)

Believed dead near the end of World War II only to have been found and brainwashed by the Soviets for the next 50 years, Captain America's former sidekick now continues to defend his country from the shadows against those who would threaten it as legendary spy and assassin Winter Soldier.

I think this movie could be awesome! I'd love to see Bucky Barnes, THE WINTER SOLDIER, going around the world before and even after the events of CA:TWS. These are the 2 different routes they could take.
Before Captain America: The Winter Soldier: The Winter Soldier is sent on his most dangerous mission yet. He has to kill an important person and we get to see him in action.
After Captain America: The Winter SoldierBucky travels the world as he regains his memory and hunts down the people that did this to him...HYDRA

Sebastian Stan should return with the Russo Brothers at the helm.

2. Moon Knight - The White Knight

Moon Knight, Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley: four different aspects of the same man, who was resurrected by Khonshu, the Egyptian Lunar-God of Vengeance and Justice, to serve as his "avatar", and perform various acts of vengeance and justice on unjust mortals.

Moon Knight is an awesome and underrated character that deserves this so much! He's not recognized as a great or even original hero, when in reality he is! How many night prowling vigilante's wear white and can say they have an Egyptian god inside of them....? Can't think of anyone other than Marc Spector, Moon Knight, can you?

This film should show Moon Knight trying to solve a crime. It'd really use the multiple persona thing stylistically and in the plot to make it more interesting. At one point in the story we'd follow the villain to a high end party where Steven Grant is present. Then the next day the villain might leave his office in downtown New York to go home when he's notified that is "limo got in a crash" (with Moon Knight) and he decides to take a cab home. Who drives the cab? Jack Lockley. Then who confronts him at the end? Marc Spector a.k.a. Moon Knight! I'd love to see Matthew Fox or Joel Edgerton play the hero. Get Phil Loanou to direct. He's the guy behind the short Punisher: Laundry Day (which can be found here). Which leads to my #1 choice...

1. Punisher - Living Vengeance

After his family was killed by the mob, US Marine veteran Frank Castle became an army of one in the war against organized crime. The symbol of death's head emblazoned on his chest, he is now the violent force of nature known as The Punisher.

Punisher is arugably one of, if not, the coolest Marvel characters ever invented. The Punisher is an all-around badass. He not only will f@#k you up, but he has a reason for it. He'll take out a group of guys with guns and knives with a bottle of jack or just his bare fist. He is a beloved character that has not yet been done right on film.

This movie would just be Punisher killing some muthasuckas left and right. I'm thinking he's moving through the mob on some Scarface/The Raid/Rambo type shiznit! This movie would not only show his range of emotions as a character, but through flashbacks we'd see his past. Not just the death of his family, but his time in the army as well. And forget US Marine. This dude should be an ex Navy Seal or some type of elite military officer. I think his design should be based off of his Marvel Now suit because that freaking rocks (keep the beard and both eyes)!

This should be violent, dramatic, entertaining, have great quality to it, and should overall be an amazing experience for fans and other viewers to enjoy. If I could chose I'd have Karl UrbanManu BennetJon Hamm, or even Thomas Jane to come in and play the character. Each one of them would bring so much to the role and would own the character fans know and love!
