For this edition, I want to show a number of pictures I hand drew then colored using the most time consuming programs on the computer, Microsoft Paint. And then adding them to a pre-made background.
With each of these, I used the same method. First, I decided which heroes I wanted to amalgamate. Second, I sat down with pencil and paper and found a model design online to study while I drew it. Third, I scan the drawing to the computer. Then, using Microsoft Paint I added color and removed the scanned paper background. Finally, I searched for backgrounds online that would fit the new hero.
I enjoy using Microsoft Paint, because it's the easiest program to use even if it is time consuming. I haven't quite figured out how to work photoshop with pictures and with as good as I'm getting on Paint, I'm not sure I want to learn. Taking the time to fill in every little pixel just seems more artistic to me. With programs like photoshop and paintshop, a drawing can be converted in no time at all which personally I feel takes away from the creative process. An artist can can little details using MS Paint that you just simply can't with the other programs. As it stands a drawing like one that I displayed in this article, currently takes me a day and a half to complete from beginning (paper and pencil) to finish (complete digitization). I'm very proud of the work I've done here and even though it's not quite comic book standard, I hope you enjoyed it as well. Feel free to sound off below.
