AVENGERS IV: KANG'S CONQUEST
Synopsis
This synopsis is not meant to be a full rundown of the plot, just a brief overview to give you context for my casting.
The Avengers can rest a bit easily after defeating the Infinity Gauntlet wielding Thanos after the Events of
Avengers: Infinity War. Earth, and many of the galactic cultures are beginning to rebuild after mass destruction caused by the Mad Titan. The Avengers and Adam Warlock have sealed the Infinity Gems and the Gauntlet on Earth in a highly secure building deep underground.
Bruce Banner is now a revered scientist, and is SHIELD's utmost scientific mind. Banner begins to note many radioactive spikes, but what strikes Banner is that there are energy signatures that don't match anything in SHIELD's database. Banner doesn't know what to think, but strives to discover more about it.
During this time, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and a few others have set up a newly formed West Coast Avengers roster in Los Angeles. This team consists of Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Scarlet Witch, and Vision. Banner calls them asking them to follow an energy signature and look in on it. The team goes to investigate.
As they arrive in an abandoned HYDRA Lair, they all repeatedly see a being flash in and out of various hallways. Hawkeye decides it's best that the team splits up. Mockingbird and Vision break off while Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and Scarlet Witch go another way. During this time, Mockingbird and Vision encounter the being. He stands before them in green and purple regalia, with a gun in one hand and a small cube in the other. Mockingbird demands that the being drop the weapon and cube. The being does so, and starts laughing. Vision asks what's so funny. Before he can get an answer, an energy pulse emanates from the cube and stuns both Avengers in their tracks. The being then inputs a command and the pulse emanates out farther. As it does, the abandoned HYDRA base begins to look different. The rest of the team is trying to radio Vision and Mockingbird but are unable to, as they turn around, the pulse is approaching them. Around a corner comes the being, which approaches the three Avengers, Hawkeye demands that he identify himself. The being laughs and responds with: "I Am Kang, and this world is mine Avenger." The three try to take on Kang, but be easily dispatches them. Upon seeing Ant-Man, Kang says "Hello, Scott Lang" and restrains the hero against the wall. As the pulse approaches the two remaining Avengers, Hawkeye orders a tactical retreat for himself and Scarlet Witch. They manage to make it out alive but not before the base is now nothing. Scarlet Witch screams and Hawkeye gasps. After grabbing Scarlet Witch and boarding the Rover, they depart. As the doors shut, Hawkeye broadcasts out a call for help from all Avengers.
At the Avengers Tower, many of the Avengers have gathered, and they are all at a loss for words as to where their comrades have gone. During this time, they receive a broadcast from Kang. He says:
"My name is Kang the Conqueror, and today marks the beginning of the end for this century's existence. I come from the 41st century with one purpose, and that's to claim this planet, it's minerals, and it's other vast resources as my own. Any resistance from earth's mightiest heroes will be met with a swift and effective response. Cooperation, submission, and your willingness to surrender will only make your lives easier; because in 48 hours, this world will be mine."
During his broadcast, Thor bellows for a response, claiming that once Kang is done with Earth, there is no reason for him not to go after the other realms, including Asgard. Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye are distraught over the loss of their loved ones and fellow Avengers. At the head of the table, Luke Cage slams his fists into the table. He says that with Vision and Mockingbird gone, they have to lead as one, if they have any chance of stopping Kang. Captain America (formally Winter Soldier) then suggests that Cage lead the team. While hesitant at first, the other Avengers all agree that it's for the best and he joins them in agreement.
An alarm goes off and everyone is wondering what's happening, Kang has appeared in Japan. The Avengers land in Japan, but Hawkeye notes that there is already an apparent cube on the ground, the energy pulse is already eating up half of Tokyo. As the city is half engulfed, Kang hovers above the city from above, Cap takes out a pistol and takes shots but they don't have any effect on Kang. He simply laughs and tells them it was too late to save Tokyo. He beams away.
The Avengers, looking defeated, decide to return to the mansion, but Wanda screams out "No!" She senses Vision inside the energy pulse. The team dismisses her rambling. Ms. Marvel grabs Wanda by her shoulder and asks her how sure she is, Wanda states that she needs to try. Without any hesitation, the two leap off the Quinjet towards the slowly growing pulse. As the reach the barrier, Ms. Marvel tells Wanda to brace herself.
As they enter, they don't see Tokyo, but rather, a dystopia. Everything is derelict and crumbling apart. The two see Vision, whose bottom portion is missing. Wanda states that she's using her hex powers to keep them tethered, Ms. Marvel doesn't get it, but Wanda states they don't have much time. They grab Vision and turn around, yet there's no pulse. Ms. Marvel, asks Wanda what to do, Wanda says to fly upward. The three ascend, but still no pulse, finally the three emerge back in Tokyo, but both Wanda and Carol are weak and Carol faints. Holding both Vision and Ms. Marvel, Wanda begin to descend towards the approaching pulse. The Quinjet flies in and Doctor Strange employs an enchantment to keep the three afloat. The Quinjet then brings them back on board.
Carol awakens and Cage is overlooking her. She begins to explain herself but Cage stops her, he explains that he knows the value of commrodity and knew that once Scarlet Witch knew she was going to jump, Carol had to join her. Carol then describes the world they say, Cage thinks it's Tokyo but Carol disagrees.
Back at Avengers Tower; Carol, Vision, and Wanda are recovering. Banner rushes in to inform them and Cage that based on a dust sample off all three's uniforms, he can gather that they travelled to the 41st century. Cage then explains that this somehow means that they travelled to Kang's time. As The Avengers question why Kang would be doing this, Vision wakes up.
He explains that Kang has been travelling time and attempting to conquer various time periods. When he succeeds, it strengthens him as he gathers technology from various periods of time. When he loses, it's almost always due to that timeline's Avengers. Vision explains that Kanga has discovered that for him to conquer many other timelines, he needs to conquer the universe at this time. Hawkeye comments that it'll be tough for him to conquer a whole universe in merely 48 hours. Vision explains that on his own, Kang would not be able to do so. However, he plans to hook up the Infinity Stones to a reactor, which will merge the Avengers timeline with his own. Thus giving Kang complete control and dominance.
Cage then explains that they need to get to the Infinity Watch, and ensure that Kang does not reach the Infinity Stones. Cage calls the Infinity Watch, where the Guardians of the Galaxy are overseeing the Stones. Moondragon warns that there is a being approaching, The Guardians attempt to ward off Kang but are all defeated. As the Quinjet lands, the Avengers touch the ground, the pulse is emanating out of a deep chasm, which used to be where the Infinity Stones were held.
Kang stands, telling The Avengers that they are too late, that the pulse has begun, and unlike his previous versions, in 10 minutes the pulse will purge the farthest depths of the universe of this reality. Replacing it with his own. The Avengers are tactile, and are all fighting Kang in a manner that would defeat most foes, but Kang throws them around like ragdolls.
"Five Minutes left Avengers, until a new world order"
Cage gets up, looking defeated; Hawkeye, Carol, and himself don't know what to do. Kang has a complete defense. Essentially, he's won.
Vision radios in. He and Scarlet Witch are flying in together. Cage thanks Vision for joining the battle, Vision insists not and asks that the leaders listen to Scarlet Witch. Wanda explains that for a brief instance she was able to go between both worlds, saying that she believes if Vision can be brought in with her, he may have a brief instance where he can adjust his density to destroy the reactor and stop Kang's pulse. Cage tells them it's their only shot and tells The Avengers to attack Kang as one. While they are far from able to defeat the villain, they are able to distract him while Vision and Scarlet Witch fly in. Upon entering the core of the pulse, they see the reactor. With the Infinity Stones attached to a larger version of Kang's cubes. Scarlet Witch lands with Vision and holds onto him to keep him able to retain a part of both worlds. KAng appears, but it's a copy. He warns the two that there may be dire consequences for doing this, and this may not save their world. Wanda insists that it's better then living in the 41st century, to which Kang replies with a "Are you sure? Tampering with the time and realities is not the best idea. I've done so for many years but I research, I look into the repercussions. You can't just stop my plan and think that everything will remain the same as it did before. Nothing stays the same."
Vision replies with "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future." As he reaches into the reactor and a blinding light punctuated by the sound of Kang's yells echo.
Scarlet Witch awakens inside The Avengers Mansion, with Vision at her side. She gets up, puts a robe on, and goes out, along the way she sees Carol, Cage; but also other Avengers that she thought were long gone such as a younger Tony and Steve. Vision approaches her from behind; unsure of what's going on. Vision approaches her and puts his hand on her shoulder, and says, "The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance."
There's an alarm on the screen, Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil are attacking the UN. Steve tells everyone to 'Suit Up' as the Scarlet Witch smiles. This is not the reality she fought for, but this is the reality she will fight for.
The Cast
Jeremy Irons As
Kang The Conqueror
\
When looking for someone to play Kang, it came to me that you want someone who can play up this confident arrogance. As if he truly has control over the situation and knows it.
Runner Up: Javier Bardem
Terry Crews as
Luke Cage
While quite a few actors can do a good job with the role, I have to agree with a lot of different other fan casters that Crews is a great choice for Luke Cage. He definitely can kick ass and command the screen. Also, for the same of my story Luke Cage is a leader, and I could buy Terry Crews leading The Avengers.
Claire Danes as
Captain Marvel
While many people like Katie Sackoff for the role, I think Claire would bring a great vulnerability to the role that would otherwise be lacking with any other actress.
Hugh Dancy as
Adam Warlock
I've wanted Dancy as Warlock for ages, he's just a great actor and would command the role.
Yunjin Kim as
Moondragon
Yunjin was a great actress on Lost and would bring a great strength to Moondragon.
These characters weren't mentioned explicitly in the synopsis nor have they been cast, but would appear as Avengers under Luke Cage's leadership.
Troy Baker as
Iron Fist
While primarily a voice actor, I would enjoy seeing Troy make the jump from video games and animated shows to live action, especially since he has such a great range.
Amber Heard as
Valyrie
Amber is a great actress and talent, she also has a wonderful look and attitude that would be great for Valkyrie.
Wes Bentley as
Moon Knight
Wes is a great actor and I think would make for a great Moon Knight!
