FAN FIC: Days of Future Past

As a dual-sequel to First Class and The Last Stand, this is how I believe Days of Future Past SHOULD HAVE been handled.

We have no idea what Days of Future Past will turn out to be. It could surprise us by being another hit after First Class and The Wolverine.. or it could turn out to be another jumbled mess. Right now, it's looking like the latter. I'll save my official judgment until after I see the movie, of course, but I can tell you from what we've seen that I would have done it differently.

I'm a fan, of course I would have done it differently.

Below is my fan fiction for Days of Future Past, hope you enjoy. It is in NO WAY a complete movie outline. Just a few ideas I've had kicking around in my head since Days of Future Past was announced.

To quote director Matthew Vaughn, when asked about a First Class sequel:
“I’ve got some ideas for the opening for the next film. I thought it would be fun to open with the Kennedy Assassination, and we reveal that the magic bullet was controlled by Magneto. That would explain the physics of it, and we see that he’s pissed off because Kennedy took all the credit for saving the world and mutants weren’t even mentioned. And we could go from there, and I’ve got some fun ideas about what other mutants to bring in.”

So the opening scene would be the celebration of JFK coming through town, him being shot, and the chaos that ensues. Then, in slow motion, the scene starts to rewind. We see the bullet coming back through JFK's chest and into the air. We see someone (idc who, Lee Harvey Oswald, or maybe someone recognizable from the comics, Moria MacTaggert?) aiming a gun at Magneto, who then bends the bullet towards JFK. Maybe Mystique frames Oswald as the thebentbullet.com suggests.

Evidence that Magneto killed JFK wouldn't surface until before the first X-Men film, where we see the debate about mutants. Before that X-Men film, mutants were just a rumor. Only the government knew about them and denied their existence forever.
Thus begins the work on Sentinels. Bolivar Trask begins work on these Sentinels because he's suspicious of these mutants. Maybe one of them attacks his son or something.

Flash forward to the present, and all mutants are enslaved by these Sentinels. Humans are not enslaved, but certain freedoms have been taken away, and all efforts to free the mutants are thwarted by the vicious Sentinels.
Professor X has returned, whether a mutant resurrected him or he took hold of his brother's body. He or some other smart person has developed a time machine, and they send Kitty Pryde (eh, maybe someone else. Could Ellen Page handle being the main character?) into the past. The Sentinels wrongfully mark her off as one of the lesser threats, paying less attention to her than other mutants. They don't send anyone else, lest the Sentinels notice a large absence of mutants. Sending one person is risky enough.

Kitty Pryde's mission is to band together the X-Men of 1963 and stop Magneto and the Brotherhood from assassinating JFK. Remember, mutant torture has gotten so bad that the only option is to change the past.

Wolverine is unsure of this plan, so he bands the present X-Men for one more fight against the Sentinels. Together with Storm, Colossus, Angel, Rogue, Iceman, and Nightcrawler, the X-Men fight off a small group of Sentinels and destroys them, at the cost of Wolverine being completely vaporized.
Despite this loss, this gives the X-Men hope of defeating the Sentinels.

Back in the past, Kitty explains the situation to Moria and Charles, and they band the X-Men together again. The X-Men would include Charles, Kitty, Beast, Havok, Banshee, and newcomer Polaris, who would serve as a "love interest" of sorts to Havok. At first they are distrusting of Polaris, who has almost the same powers as Magneto, but let her help.

Magneto's brotherhood would consist of Angel Salvedore, Azazel, Riptide, Mystique, and Liev Shreiber's Victor Creed. They're basically distracting the X-Men while Magneto's off doing his thing. Victor's involvement prompts past Wolverine to fight as well, though he disregards any involvement with the X-Men.

Well folks, sometimes the good guys don't succeed. I feel like this would be a really good plot element to the film, as there is yet to be a movie where the hero %100 fails the mission. Just when it looks like the X-Men are going to stop the brotherhood, Magneto kills JFK. The X-Men are heartbroken.

Charles gets Magneto to meet him and he explains to him the gravity of the situation, and what he has just done. Magneto suggests going into the past again to try and stop him, but Charles is against this, echoing what future Charles has already told Kitty. Going further and further into time could be, in a word, dangerous.

The future X-Men continue to band together more mutants, and plan to take down the Sentinels in an all-out war. Then, the X-Men and Brotherhood from the past show up (minus Charles and Moria), and help the present mutants destroy the Sentinels.
^Obviously there needs to be more plot here. Remember these are just some ideas I have floating in my head, it's not like I have the entire movie outlined. Just some major events.

After some emotional moments, they all agree that the past mutants must return to their time.

So they do, and it turns out this last travel across time is too much for the time machine to handle. It malfunctions/explodes, and creates a sort of "time wave." I'm not sure how to explain. Just picture a timeline in your head, from the 60's to the present, and a wave gliding across it. The wave picks up certain people through time, including Gambit, and send them to the present.
^Meh, not so sure about this part. It seems a bit controversial. What are your thoughts?

Anyway, the movie ends with mutants being set free. A nice happy ending.

And of course, they could always have found a way to bring Wolverine back. Maybe Wolvie goes to hell?

Anyways thanks for reading! Let me know what you think in the comment section. If Lhornbk reads, I'm sure he'll give me shit.
