Like everyone else, I saw Iron Man 3 when it came out. Now I’m not going to say it was a bad movie, but I can say I have expected something very different from it.
So by doing this “How it should have been”, I’m not trying to make the movie better (it did made a billion dollars, so what’s the point), I’m only giving my version and idea to how the movie should have been.
I will try to keep it short, so this is not a full script for a movie, just a recap of my idea for it.
Let’s start with The Mandarin, I think the way Marvel handled him in the movie was pretty much what killed it for the “Fan Boys”.
I hated what they did to the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, and I don’t even read Iron man comics. I just felt like they really did a poor and lazy job with the villain, same thing they are doing with every other villain in their cinematic universe. The only villain that they actually weren’t lazy with was Loki.

So, my Iron Man 3 movie starts in 2008. Tony has just become Iron Man, and he destroys all his weapons that “The Ten Rings” got from Obadiah Stane. The terrorist group is done, and its leader is Gene Khan, a descended of Genghis Khan.
Khan want’s vengeance against Iron Man, but he doesn’t possess the means to do anything. But he is in for some luck. Khan hears that there is a place where he can find unlimited power, but no man that seek that power never came back. Khan goes to the forbidden Valley of Spirits, and he finds a spaceship. Inside he finds a green stone, and in time Khan understands that he can cut the stone in to 10 smaller stones, and he places this stones on 10 rings that he has. Know this rings gives him great powers.
The big green stone by the way is one of the Infinity Gems (connecting it the cinematic universe).
Khan changes his name to the Mandarin, and before he can kill Iron Man, he decides to learn how to use his new powers, and build a new army, that will be even bigger then Genghis Khan’s army.
Cut to present day. Few months back there was a cool storyboard for an alternate Iron Man 3 opening. It was an amazing jungle fight between Iron Man and a bad guy that has Iron arms. If any of you saw it, you know what I’m talking about, for anyone else, sorry but Marvel took the video down.
So anyway, Iron Man fights a dude that has his Tec, and they fight in the jungle.
But then Iron Man has a panic attack, and the evil dude goes to kill him. War Machine shows up and stops the bad guy by himself. Tony who still under the panic attack, flies away, back to the Malibu house.
Tony goes to his work shop, and grabs a bottle, and drinks it before collapsing.
After he wakes up, he hurries to start building a new suit that looks like the Mark 42. Tony later explains to Pepper Potts that he feels weak. He now knows that there are things out there that he can’t handle, aliens, super soldiers, Gods, magic and more. And that’s way he is doing the only thing he knows, building suits, so if a day come, he could protect Pepper.
In the same time, the Mandarin begins to attack America, warning us that we all must kneel before him of parish. The Mandarin says that America tried to enslave the world with their ideals, and he came to stop it.
The Mandarin uses his rings to give some powers to his loyal men, and the sends to bring Tony Stark to him. There powers are similar to the powers that they had in Iron Man 3, and it’s like the Extremis serum from the comics.
Pepper drags Tony from the house to a double date with Rhodey and his new girlfriend, so Tony will get out of the house for a little, but Tony refuses, and so the date happens in the house, with Happy joining theme as a bodyguard.
Everything is good, until the Malibu house is under attack by Mandarin’s men. Tony grabs a suit and puts Pepper inside it, and then he orders Jarvis to take Pepper to safety. The suit (controlled by Jarvis) grabs Rhodey’s girl also.
Tony then grabs another suit, and goes to fight Mandarin’s men. During the battle, Tony’s house is destroyed. In the end of the fight, Happy is badly injured.
Later on, in the destroyed Malibu house, Tony wants to go and fight the Mandarin, saying he can do this, but Pepper tells him that he can’t, because he needs to figure out how to stop the Mandarin, use his mind here, and not his muscle.
Tony gets really angry and flies to find and kill the Mandarin, and Rhodey joins him. The two arrive to where the Mandarin is hanging out, but they quick learn that it’s a trap, and they are attacked by many of Mandarin’s men.
Tony goes to attack the Mandarin himself, but Tony never faced someone like the Mandarin before, who uses alien Tec/magic. Rhodey is fighting Mandarin’s men, but he is outnumbered, and he is defeated. Iron Man and the Mandarin fight one on one, but in the end of the fight, Tony gets another panic attack, and then the Mandarin destroys Tony’s arc reactor (that thing that is keeping him alive).
Mandarin’s base of operations is located on a mountain, and Mandarin drags Tony to its edge (Tony is still inside the suit), and then Mandarin pushes Tony, and he falls from the big mountain.
As Iron Man falls to his death, Jarvis takes control over the suit, and is able to fly up, saving Tony from death. Jarvis flies the suit away, and the movie fades out.
Tony wakes up in an underground facility.
Tony finds out that Pepper is tending to his wounds. Then for the shadows, Tony and Pepper are approached by a new suit, a silver suit that looks like his Mark II suit, only it looks more like Ultron (without the Ultron helmet).
This suit is a “body armor” that Jarvis has created for himself. Jarvis then shows Tony that he has been building Iron Man suits since the events of the Avengers, and now has about 50 suits that he controls. Tony is shocked by it. On the one hand 50 suits are a great way to fight the Mandarin, but on the other hand, Tony doesn’t like the idea of Jarvis taking this kind of liberties without telling him about it.
Jervis tells Tony that he is dying, and if he won’t find a solution to his broken arc reactor, he will die.
Tony and Pepper have a talk, about love and all of that, and Tony decides he will find a way to save his life, and stop the Mandarin.
Jarvis then tells Tony he got a sample of the Extremis serum that the Mandarin gave to his men, and he can use it to save Tony’s life.
Tony decides to take a leap of faith, and starts working on the Extremis serum, to find a way to upgrade it so it will save his life, but not turn him into something that the Mandarin can control.
Tony is able to create a new serum, and he then kisses Pepper, and injects it to his heart. Tony falls into a coma, and while he is under, Tony goes back to the battle of New-York reliving the moments where he almost died. He then remembers way he risked his life, he did it for Peppre, Rhodey, Happy, The Avengers and for everyone else in the world.
Tony wakes from his coma, and his wounds are healed, and now he has similar abilities to those he had in “Extremis”.
Tony and Jarvis create a new Iron Man armor, and it looks like the Bleeding Edge Armor. The neurokinetic user-controlled morphologic nanoparticle bundles that form the suit reside in Tony's body, and form a fibrous wetweb of iron and platinum, that can be commanded to form any type of structure upon Tony's skin, like weapons, including large guns extending from his arms or a lightsaber-like energy sword. The nano-machines can even mimic the appearance of clothes, and then dissociate to transform into the Iron Man armor whenever Tony wishes. Now he is truly Iron Man.
Tony is ready to go and fight the Mandarin again, and Pepper gets her own suit also, and it’s the Rescue armor. Tony then learns that the Mandarin and his army are attacking Washington, D.C. and they are on the way to the White House.
Tony, Pepper and all the suits controlled by Jarvis fly out to save the day.
There is an epic fight (by the way, Pepper finds Rhodey, and he gets a new War Machine armor). All the suits fight Mandarin’s army, and Iron Man fights Mandarin again. In the end, Tony is able to defeat the Mandarin with his new super suit, and all of Mandarin’s men are defeated also. But then Mandarin takes of his 10 rings, and combines then into one (Infinity Gem), and uses it to keep fighting.
The battle becomes almost biblical, but in the end Iron Man is able to defeat and kill the Mandarin.
After the fight ends, Tony decides he had enough, and that he only wants to spent time with Pepper, and so he tells Jarvis to blow up all the suits (expect the War Machine armor), and then he and Pepper kiss.
In the after credits scene, we are back in the underground facility. The Infinity Gem is there also, and so is Jarvis/Ultron suit. Then out of nowhere we see the Other (the guy that serves Thanos), and he then grabs the Gem, he is about to vanish, but then he goes back to the suit, he puts his hand on it, there is a red energy flash, and then the Other teleports out of there.
The suit powers up, and we see that know it has red eyes…
