Greetings, mortals. This will be my first editorial so be gentle. As I'm sure we all know The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due out in cinemas on May 2, 2014 and we are expecting it's first trailer in 6 days. To build up anticipation a poster has been leaked this week showcasing the titular character and some of the foes he will be make smart arsed remarks too. Now, to get down to business. There were a couple of things I picked up from this poster which I thought I'd share with you all. But first, the poster itself and some close ups supplied by DCMARVELFRESHMAN:
From this we can see that the Green Goblin will indeed make an appearance, Electro will rise (into the air) and that Paul Giamatti's Rhino will in fact be based on the Ultimate universe take in which Aleksei is in a piece of military armour.
Now, For some observations.
There has been a fair bit of speculation as to who the Green Goblin will be. Norman or Harry Osborn. But I think after seeing this, it has confirmed that we will be seeing Harry Osborn whip around on a glider, laughing manically with his winged monkeys. As you can see on the billboard behind Electro, there is a close up of "Gobbie", not to be confused with Gusto. I would be very surprised if it turned out to be Norman as that face has the same likeness as Dane DeHaan. Fanboys raging in 3,2,1...
Ok, as I said earlier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has gone to the Ultimate comics for inspiration for Rhino, or should I say R.H.I.N.O? And judging from this picture, I have absolutely no idea what I am looking at. I don't even know where the head is. Hopefully, it will look much better on screen.
Enough with the poster it didn't look to good anyway. On to the things I want to see in the sequel.
- More classic Spidey humour. TASM absolutely nailed Spider-Man's funny side with the most notable scene being with the Car Thief which you can see here.
- More Peter & Gwen. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone is phenomenal. Probably because they're dating in real life but still, give credit where credit is due.
- To see that beautiful suit in all its glory. I want to see every...inch...
- Give Gwen a goodbye to remember. To this day, the death of Gwen Stacey has been one of, if not the, biggest things to happen to ol' webhead. The chemistry between the two is there, all that is needed is the scene to be well shot and the music to be tear evoking as it was when Captain Stacey died at the hands (claws?)of The Lizard. I can't imagine anyone complaining if were done the same way as the comic.
That's it from me, folks. Be sure to leave a comment with your observations and wish list and, if you liked it enough, a thumbs up! Cheers.
