THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Concept Art Points To Galactus Originally DESTROYING Earth 828

Newly revealed concept art from The Fantastic Four: First Steps suggests that Marvel Studios originally considered having the reboot conclude with Galactus devouring Earth 828. Take a closer look here...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps ended with Marvel's First Family successfully forcing Galactus into a teleporter that would leave him stranded on the other side of the universe (keeping Earth safe for a good few million years).

Heading into the reboot, the prevailing theory among fans was that the Devourer of Worlds might successfully destroy Earth 828, forcing the team to flee to another reality. While we know that the Fantastic Four will eventually rocket to Earth 616 in Avengers: Doomsday, it seems that's in a bid to find Franklin Richards after he's taken by Doctor Doom.

Today, some new concept art from The Fantastic Four: First Steps' upcoming "Art of" book has been revealed, and it points to the plan originally being for Galactus to destroy New York City after arriving on Earth.

This doesn't look like his "landing," and instead appears to be the start of him consuming the planet and laying waste to not just the Big Apple, but the Earth itself. We also have a stunning piece by Adi Granov, showcasing the work that went into bringing Galactus to life on screen.

Once The Fantastic Four: First Steps - The Art Of The Movie is released later this month, we can expect plenty of hi-res pieces from the reboot, along with additional insights into how differently things could have played out in the reboot helmed by filmmaker Matt Shakman.

"They shot me like they were shooting miniature with massive amounts of light, so every nook and cranny of the costume was fully lit and it could be blown up in perfect focus," Galactus actor Ralph Ineson previously said of his transformation. "So yeah, it was a slightly different way of working, but quite solo, just me and the crew."

"They showed me some kind of pre-vis things of how big he was going to look on the screen, obviously without the treatment," he continued. "So I kind of knew that."

"To try and get your head around [how big he is, though], it was more thinking about what something of that size could do, you know?" the actor added. "The destruction that that could cause. So I watched lots of videos of landslides, tornadoes, tsunamis, just destructive things like that to imagine having that kind of power over the natural world."

Was Galactus really a one-and-done villain in the MCU? That currently looks to be the case, but the next Avengers movies should bring us some surprises, while much could change in the wake of Secret Wars in December 2027.

Tbf , that seems like it could have been Galactus landing on Earth but one of the ideas was to make it more destructive it seems….

Honestly in hindsight , I’m glad that First Steps didn’t end with Earth 828 being destroyed because it would have been lame and possibly harmful to have this iteration of the FF lose their first fight that we as the audience see even though we know they have been heroes for 4 years or so prior.

Anyway , I’m happy with the ending we got in what was a solid film overall imo!!.

@TheVisionary25 - agreed on both points. Do wonder how they're gonna establish as a dangerous force again though

I’m glad they didn’t destroy it. One of the best things about the film was the 1960s futuristic world and I hope they explore it more in the sequel.

I mean, given the post credits in Thunderbolts, yeah thats what most people were expecting. But as has been typical of post endgame marvel, the macro writing is floppy.

We'll see, hopefully they have a good explanation for them ending up in 616.
