CBR spinoffonline talked with producer Mark Canton at at this years WonderCon. The discussion focused mainly on the upcoming film Immortals. However, he did take a moment to touch on where the much anticipated follow up to 300 Xerxes is at right now.

“It’s talked about. Ask Zack.”

“It’s in Zack’s hands. We’re in a very good place. We’ve taken a lot of time, we didn’t want to just make a sequel. We’re very close to the group of people who made that movie and very respectful of what the fans think of the movie, so I can assure that we’re determined to make a great follow-up. It will not be a conventional sequel at all.”

Asked if this is the story we’ve heard about, the one that connects with Xerxes, Canton grew hesitant.

“Kind of. It’s just more Godfather Part II-like. There’s a lot going on, a parallel story. There’s a lot going on. Zack is writing it.”

there is a lot goin on = even more over the top crap and slow motion scenes to destract you from the fact that the movie has a less thought out story than a Curious George installment... but i mean, it worked the first time, didnt it?

If Snyder is writing it, it probably won't be very good. He is an amazing director but not all that great at writing therefore you end up with a product like Sucker Punch. I actually thought Sucker Punch was okay, probably worth a dollar at the Redbox but not a 11 dollar ticket at the movie theater.

all 300 did was provide a 'party bus' type vehicle for the 'slow motion' gimmick action shot that zack snyder saw in the matrix and made a little more unique (i.e. adding that annoying sound effect)... thats it.. just one random stupid idea.. like i bet we could make a cool fight scene with a lot of those kinds of shots... but a good filmmaker would have built something around that... not just stretched an idea for a gimmick out for 2 hours... uh we're out of ideas, this story sucks... throw in a big guy that doesnt wince when a sword goes through his arm... thatll keep em hooked... yes dave, OF COURSE i want you to use the slo-mo lens... did we write this in a wendy's parking lot last night or not?
