Marvel´s Interplanetary Unusual Attacking Team has received mixed reviews from chinese critics and according to China Daily, the reason is poorly translated subtitles. The site reports that it is making difficult to understand the humor causing moviegoers and comic book fans complain as it is spoiling the fun of watching it.

A popular Weibo user, known for uploading subtitled video clips, has said he identified at least 80 translation mistakes and expresses that “Aside from a lot of mistranslations, the subtitles failed to show the original feel of the movie, such as jokes, puns and homophones. We cannot help but doubt the professionalism of the translator."

If you know chinese you can check out all these mistakes on his site, but thanks to The Mary Sue here are some of them:

  • "John Stamos" was subtitled as "Johns Tamo Si"
  • When Gamora says, "Your ship is filthy," and Star Lord responds "She has no idea," the translation came out to "Your ship stinks" and "No culture is terrible."
  • Star Lord calling Ronan "t#rd blosson" translated to "big face."
  • Gamora´s "I will not succumb to your pelvic sorcery!" became "I will not succumb to your rhetoric sorcery!"

And the worst of them all

What do you think of the Interplanetary Unusual Attacking Team subtitles? Do you think it will hurt it´s boxoffice? Share your thoughts below and thanks for reading.
