A QUIET PLACE PART II Sneaks Up To Memorial Day After Vin Diesel's F9 Races Off To June

While most studios continue to assess the reshaped mid-pandemic box office, with many films still being pushed into later in the year, Paramount Pictures has decided to make a hard pivot and has moved up the release of John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II from September to Memorial Day weekend (May 28).

The late-night news comes hot on the heels of Universal Pictures pushing Vin Diesel's upcoming action blockbuster F9 back one month to June 25 and also moving Minions: The Rise of Gru back one whole year to July 1, 2022.

Paramount has also moved their Mark Wahlberg sci-fi thriller Infinite to September 24.

F9 is now on a collision course with Sony's Venom: Let There Be Carnage, so there's a decent chance that one of 'em will ultimately end up moving dates. Paramount's Tom Cruise-starrer Top Gun: Maverick is due out the following week, ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe headline A Quiet Place Part II, reprising their roles from the previous installment, while Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) join the cast in mysterious new roles. John Krasinski will also appear in the film as the Abbott patriarch, albeit only in a cameo capacity during flashbacks.

F9 will see the whole family - Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster and Nathalie Emmanuel - reunite, as well as someone fans never thought they'd see again: Sung Kang, who returns to serve some justice in this adrenaline-fueled world. Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron and John Cena will also be along for the ride.
