ADRIFT: Jared Leto To Re-Team With Director Darren Aronofsky For New Blumhouse Horror Film

Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) is set to re-team with Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky for new Blumhouse horror movie, Adrift, which sounds like it has the potential to be very creepy indeed...

Acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Noah, Mother!, Black Swan) is set to direct a new horror movie via Blumhouse, with Jared Leto on board to star.

Adrift is based on a short story by The Ring writer Koji Suzuki, and focuses on a member of a fishing boat crew (Leto, presumably) who encounters strange goings on at sea.

"In the dead calm of the open sea, a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call," reads the logline. "A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it's towed into port, but he soon discovers why the rest of his more experienced crew members call it a 'Ghost Ship.'"

Aronofsky has shown a flair for horror in the past (Requiem for a Dream is one of the scariest movies ever made), but this will mark the director's first full-on foray into the genre. Jason Blum is set to produce along with Leto and Emma Ludbrook.

Leto's next project is Warner Bros.' The Little Things (out tomorrow), and he's set to return as The Joker for Zack Snyder's Justice League in March. His Marvel/Sony comic book movie, Morbius, was also due for release in March, but was recently pushed back to October 8.
