Though it doesn't sound like anything is officially in-development just yet, a remake of beloved 1990 supernatural romance Ghost may be on the horizon.

According to a Vanity Fair (via FearHQ.com) cover story, Channing Tatum’s production company, Free Association, owns the film rights to the original movie, which stars Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Tatum confirmed as much in the accompanying interview, while suggesting that they are at least contemplating moving forward with the project.

"We actually have the rights,” said the actor. “Yeah, we have the rights to Ghost, but we’re going to do something different. I think it needs to change a little bit."

Tatum is said to be referring to some outdated stereotypes, presumably relating to Goldberg's character.

That's pretty much all we have to go on, but the report mentions that, should the reboot move forward, Tatum would take on the Swayze role.

Ghost was directed by Jerry Zucker, and focused on Swayze's character returning from the dead after his cold-blooded murder to warn his girlfriend (Moore) that the men who killed him are targetting her next. Goldberg won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance as a psychic grifter named Oda Mae Brown, who facilitates their reunion.

What do you guys make of this news? Any fans of the original movie out there? If so, who would you can opposite Tatum in the Demi Moore role? Drop us a comment down below.
