Get Out director Jordan Peele has begun the casting process for his mysterious new horror project, and Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Scream: The TV Series) has reportedly signed on to play the female lead.
We don't know very much about Palmer's character, but, intriguingly, she is expected to play "the antagonist of the film."
Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther) is also expected to join the cast, but his deal has not closed yet. Jesse Plemons (Fargo, Breaking Bad) was in line for a role but was forced to pass due to a scheduling conflict.
Palmer has worked with Peele in the past, making a guest appearance in a 2013 episode of Key & Peele. More recently, she appeared alongside John Boyega in indie drama Imperial Dreams, and wrapped Krystin Ver Linden's upcoming slavery drama Alice. She also provides the voice of Rochelle in Netflix’s Big Mouth and its spinoff, Human Resources.
Peele wrote the script for his untitled "horror event" film and will also produce alongside Ian Cooper under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. Sara Scott and Tony Ducret will oversee the project, which is currently set for release on July 22, 2022.
There are rumors going around that the movie will be a part of Universal's rebooted "Monster Universe," but that's yet to be confirmed.
