IN THE EARTH: Check Out The First Trailer For KILL LIST Director Ben Wheatley’s Latest Nightmare Fuel

The first trailer for Ben Wheatley's latest is now online, and if you were worried that Netflix's dreary Rebecca might have signalled a more conventional career path for the filmmaker, it doesn't look like there was any cause for concern!

Wheatley has returned to his trippy horror roots with In The Earth, a micro-budget, pandemic-set chiller which he reportedly filmed in secret over 15 days.

This first look at the film actually teases a fairly straightforward horror premise, but if you've seen the likes of Kill List, A Field in England or Sightseers, you'll know that things are likely to take a turn for the bizarre.

Check out the trailer below along with a series of equally freaky character posters, and let us know what you think.

In the Earth is expected to "deliver a timely story set in a world that searches for a cure to a disastrous virus as a scientist and park scout venture deep in the forest for a routine equipment run. Through the night, their journey becomes a terrifying voyage through the heart of darkness, the forest coming to life around them."

The movie stars Joel Fry (Yesterday, Game of Thrones), Ellora Torchia (The Split, Midsommar), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake), and Wheatley regular Reece Shearsmith (Inside No. 9, Psychoville), and is set for theatrical release on April 30.
