SCARY MOVIE 6 Official Trailer Comes With A Warning: "There Are No Safe Spaces"

The first trailer for horror parody "rebooquel" Scary Movie 6 has now been officially released online, and the easily offended should steer well clear!

The first trailer for Scary Movie (it seems to have dropped the "6") leaked online last week after debuting in theaters with Scream 7, and Paramount Pictures has now officially released the riotous teaser online.

The trailer begins on a subway, with several recognisable masked maniacs - Leatherface, Jason, the Heart Eyes killer, etc - menacing a young woman, who makes a pronouns joke when she's stabbed by this franchise's slightly goofier take on Ghostface.

Some hysterical scenes follow (yes, Officer Doofy returns), and it seems clear that this movie will not be holding anything back, so the easily offended should take heed. As the tagline says, “Every line will be crossed.”

The original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans are back on board, with Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprising their respective roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks. Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott and Jon Abrahams also return, along with new cast members Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, and Heidi Gardner.

The Wayans certainly have a lot more material to take aim at for this next movie, and this trailer alone includes nods to Smile, Scream 6, Sinners, Get Out, M3GAN, Weapons, Heart Eyes, Terrifier, Malignant, The Substance and Final Destination Bloodlines.

"We're gonna do what we always do.," Marlon Wayans tells EW. "We're gonna make fun of everybody because we're equal opportunity offenders," he says. "We have a recipe, we have a formula that you can't mimic or copy. You could try, but it's very specific. It's how we grew up, and it's how we see the world. It's the household we were raised in with the sense of humor that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother."

"We like to be fearless," he continues. "Yet still do things with kid gloves to let people laugh at themselves."

"I got me and my brothers together to come back to a franchise that we were removed from. I think the assignment is to bring back the cast, bring back me and my brothers working together, and to bring back big-ass laughs. The world needs a big-ass laugh."

Most of the Scary Movies performed very well at the box office, taking in north of $896M worldwide through five instalments. The 2000 original was one of the biggest R-rated horror movies of all time back in the day, but by the time the fifth entry had rolled around, audiences seemed to have grown tired of the same recycled jokes.

Scary Movie 6 hits theaters on June 12. Check out the trailer below along with a new synopsis, and let us know what you think.

Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.

Trailer was just okay but I’m glad they’re taking shots at everyone. They should - that’s how good comedy works.

They're hitting from all angles. I love it!

Message to the left: Just STFU, take the jokes, and don't hurt anyone or burn things.

Message to the right: Just STFU and don't cry about the white jokes or taunt the left.

The trailer was alright imo…

The humor was hit or miss but couple of the jokes did make me chuckle atleast.

We’ll see how it does since parody films aren’t really made nowadays though it likely will do better then Naked Gun (which is unfortunate since I liked that reboot personally).

@GComix85 - I obviously wasn't 12 years old for 6 years, but that is how old I was when I saw the first one in theaters, Scary Movie 2. So I was a teen when they all came out.

Ugh, "No safe spaces" AND the trailer starts with a pronoun joke? This should go over big with the Gutfeld crowd.

@FireGunn - "We should punch everywhere"

Why?

"Look at the first comment on that video"

This one? "Hm, I may disagree with the concept (that you "shouldn't") but I adore your explanation. It's clear and concise, thank ya spank ya :]"
FireGunn
FireGunn - 3/3/2026, 9:55 AM
@Clintthahamster - Why? I know we aren't supposed to answer questions with questions but why not? Why shouldn't we? I as a minority do not feel attacked when a joke is "punching down" as long as it's not blatantly bigoted or attacking my community's character. I generally think jokes of all kinds should be made as long as it's in good taste and genuinely funny. I hate this perception that minority groups are weak and NEED protection from everyone else.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 3/3/2026, 11:28 AM
@FireGunn - I'm straight white dude, but I also grew up fat and neurodivergent, so I'm familiar with bullying. And I guess that's where I'd draw the line. The first joke in the trailer (How dare you assume my genders!) is an example that is laughing at, not with, people who are non-binary. It's a bunch of cis het comedians laughing at their perception of what non-binary folks are like, which is wildly inaccurate.

There are ways to make jokes about anything, but giving thought about how to joke about sensitive topics that don't ridicule or malign the folks on the receiving end is what will push comedy forward, not leaning on hack shit from the 1990s.

Grew up on these. Even though they got shitty after the first 2. Glad to see the brothers back. I have hope this will be good, but I just hope they stick to either making fun of both sides, or only a couple jokes. I worry we may get like 1 or 2 jokes about the left, while having 20+ ripping on the right. It would just be nice to have a movie either do both, or just leave political jokes out of it completely.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 3/2/2026, 1:52 PM
@JabbaTheSus - Yeah, zero politics would be ideal, but based on the trailer, I think the main target will be "political correctness."

@FireGunn - It's high time someone finally stood up for people that want to bully minorities and use slurs in everyday speech. Your people have been repressed for too long!
FireGunn
FireGunn - 3/3/2026, 6:18 AM
@Clintthahamster - I'm black lmao. Comedy is not bullying and never has been. Being anti political correctness doesn't mean just using slurs or attacking minorities either so I don't know why your panties are in a twist. The only race they've attacked here is whites actually funny enough
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 3/3/2026, 9:38 AM
@FireGunn - "I'm black lmao."

So, fun fact: There are other minorities. Minority just means "a relatively small group of people, especially one commonly discriminated against in a community, society, or nation." Trans folks are a minority. So are Muslims in some parts of the world. People with chromosomal disorders. Fat people. Asian/Pacific Island folks. Indigenous peoples. Easy targets, low hanging fruit, cheap heat.

No one's saying you can not or shall not but it's perfectly fair to say "We shouldn't be picking on 'the little guy,' we shouldn't kick people when they're down." You can still do comedy without being a bully. It's just a little bit harder.

FireGunn
FireGunn - 3/3/2026, 10:04 AM
@Clintthahamster - Are fat people the minority in the US? That's news to me lol.

As for the rest of your comment, I just feel like we're not going to agree. I was raised with thick skin (not saying you weren't) and I really don't see it as "easy targets". If anything, wouldn't the easy targets be "punching up". You know, doing the less controversial stuff? No one cares if you make a joke about rich people. If you make a joke about poor people, everyone loses their shit. Since minorities are now seen as "protected groups" it's not really cheap and easy anymore. It's pretty much the opposite now.

I also don't believe comedy to be "picking on" anyone unless it's coming from a genuine bigoted perspective. I doubt any of the actors in Scary Movie 6 are genuine bigots against "They/Thems" despite the joke being in the film. It's just riffing off on something that's politically relevant. I think this film will be very controversial and anger both sides of the aisle (See White Republican = Racist joke) and I personally see no issue with that. You see "punching down" as bullying and I see it as equality. No one should be exempt.

@FireGunn - "Are fat people the minority in the US? That's news to me lol."

Hah, fair enough. And, honestly, a better term than "minority" would be "Marginalized groups," but that doesn't always land with folks. Even if fat folks are in the majority, they are still discriminated against in every day life and in culture.

"See White Republican = Racist joke"

"I'm a republican, so I'm supposed to be racist" is not a joke. It's barely the premise of a joke. It's just saying public perceptions out loud while making a funny face.

I will 100% cop to having a thin skin. As I mentioned in my other comment, I grew up with undiagnosed ADHD and attendant emotional regulation issues, meaning that I was deeply hurt by jokes at my expense, or jokes about characters that I saw myself in in movies or shows. It [frick]ed me up. Not saying I'm the norm, but saying "I have a thick skin, and everyone else should, too!" just doesn't map to the real world. Some people literally can't help it. Even if they're laughing along when you're around, they might be crying when they get home.

Agreed that at least Marlon Wayans has been an advocate for his trans son. That doesn't make the joke any less hack.

I'm assuming this is a NSFW trailer, so I can't watch it yet since I'm at work LOL.

Number 2 is my favorite of the entire franchise. I wish the Wayans Bros were in charge of the franchise because the movies that came out after #2 were not even close to being as funny as the first two films.
