Still Hope For Locke & Key?

Still Hope For Locke & Key?

The TV adaptation of Joe Hill's popular comic series may not be quite dead yet. When Fox declined to pick up the show after it's pilot, other networks - including SyFy - expressed interest but ultimately passed due to mounting budget concerns. But then the publisher of the Locke & Key comic organized a screening of the pilot as this year's SDCC and reactions were generally positive.

Now Deadline report..

last month, a DVD of the pilot was given to MTV programming chief David Janollari. I hear he liked it but is yet to meet with the Locke & Key producers, so there has been no real conversation between the two sides.

Does this mean there is a small chance the network will pick up the show? Deadline seem to think so anyway. The major concern seems to be the budget needed to maintain the show. With that being the primary reason for other networks passing after crunching the numbers and not the actual quality of the pilot it would be a real shame if this show wasn't given a chance. MTV's current slate of shows (including Teen Wolf) consist of teen orientated pap so this would be a major departure for them should they decide to run with it.

Here is the trailer for Locke & Key in case you haven't seen it yet.

The pilot was produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and directed by Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go).
