Lead Stereoscopic Engineer for TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D, Markus Lanxinger, speaking with 3DFocus, revealed that "archive footage" from the original THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE had been converted into 3D for the new film.

While it has been known for awhile that TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D was a sequel to the first Chainsaw movie, this news would seem to indicate that the two films are even more closely tied together than previously thought.

Certainly the presence of footage from the original would seem to make TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D have stronger ties to that film than its ACTUAL direct sequel, 1986's THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, ever had.

The same interview also reveals that TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D initially walked away with an NC-17 Rating from the MPAA, but was recut by the filmmakers to get the R.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D buzzes into theaters January 4, 2013.
