Variety report that Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to star in the new Toxic Avenger, but not as the hideous hero himself. -- it seems he’s in negotiations for another lead role in the reboot of the crazy '80s flick. Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink has been attached to the project since 2010, but we haven't heard much else about it until now. For those not in the know, The Toxic Avenger was a 1984 low budget flick from Troma Studios, about a mop-wielding radioactive superhero who deals out violent justice to a bunch of polluters in Jersey. The movie spawned 3 sequels, a kid's cartoon series. and various comic book spin-offs. John Travolta was also rumored to be up for a role a while back, but we haven't heard anything on that since.

Here's an UPDATE from The Wrap:

"In a cheeky nod to his "Terminator days," Schwarzenegger will play "The Exterminator," a former black ops agent who trains the protagonist to use his powers for good. Together they take on the lurking menace created by the polluters, as well the polluters themselves."
