EDITORIAL: 2019 Will Be A Gigantic Year For The Marvel Cinematic Universe

If you thought Marvel had a huge entry last year, then just imagine that times ten this year. With Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home releasing in 2019, we're in for a big one.

It's hard to believe how far we've gotten when it comes to the MCU. It all started with a man in a can, and now we'll witness an intergalactic war with dozens of heroes. Obviously, Marvel will make some good money this year, but let's examine all the prizes we're hyped for in 2019. In order to do that, it makes sense to start with a pilot named Carol Danvers.

To be more specific, it's Captain Marvel that we'll be seeing first on March 8th. She's a noble warrior hero (her words, not mine) who operates from space, but may have a mysterious connection to Earth. Personally, I was never into Captain Marvel comics wise, or anything like that. In fact, the first two trailers for Captain Marvel were average at best. However, they've released a couple TV spots since then that look pretty decent, and we should all trust Brie Larson as the lead actress.

Nick Fury will be by her side, so this film could be a origin story to the former SHIELD director. Also, we all want to know how she correlates Avengers: Endgame. It may not be the most hype inducing Marvel movie this year, but it's definitely something new and fresh. It's tracking a huge box office opening, which is no surprise by now for something Marvel related.

Moving on from the appetizer, let's dig into the main course. Avengers: Endgame isn't just a movie. It isn't just an event. It's an experience that's never quite been done before. All the way from 2008, Marvel has been building up this little world into the massive universe we all know and love today. So imagine Endgame as the finish line from an eleven year race. There's not much to say about it, considering we only know so much.

Basically, it's a very barren universe now that Thanos has wiped half of its existence. It's up to the remaining Avengers to... well, avenge it. Box office numbers should be on levels that can't be comprehended. It has the chance to be the largest grossing film of all time if it beats Avatar. So yeah, you get the point. It's big, bold and coming out April 26th.

After eating such a main course, Spider-Man: Far From Home will be our dessert. Not too long ago, it released its first trailer, and it looks like a load of fun. Exactly what a Spidey film should be. For all the previous seven webhead films, he's usually stayed in New York City for most of the story.

This time however, him and his friends (and potential girlfriend) will be going on a summer trip across Europe. It's something different, so I'm down. Especially with Mysterio as the big baddie, I can only dream of the visual spectacles this movie will display. Spider-Man: Homecoming was the second largest grossing Spider-Man film to date, so maybe the sequel could do even better. Peter swings back into theaters July 5th.

Overall, as comic book fans, things couldn't be better. Marvel truly is going to have their biggest year yet, and the anticipation is legitimate. What are you most excited for? Any predictions for what's to come? Leave your thoughts down below.
