BOX OFFICE: ROBOCOP Takes The #1 Spot From THE LEGO MOVIE, But Not For Long...
Jose Padhila's RoboCop opened at #1 in North America yesterday despite the adverse weather, although it appears as if The LEGO Movie will remain on top this weekend as the animated feature starring Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt will continue to dominate.
The weather in parts of the US has had an impact on the box office performance of all films this week, although RoboCop did manage to steal the #1 spot from The LEGO Movie yesterday with a $2.8 million haul. Phil Lord and Chris Miller's animated movie wasn't too far behind though, as it managed to safely hold onto second place with $2.1 million. That brings its current domestic total to $75.6 million after only five days, and The Wrap reveals that it's expected to beat RoboCop over the upcoming Presidents Day weekend. The LEGO Movie is projected to earn as much as $55 million, while RoboCop will take $45 million (although the weather could have an impact on those numbers) Which of these movies are you planning on seeing over the next few days?
