"Star Trek" Star Michael Ansarsa Dies A 91.

The actor who played Kang the Klingon commander on 'Star Trek' has died at 91. This is a sad day indeed. Hit the jump to pay your respects.

Michael Ansara, best known for his role as Kang the Klingon on “Star Trek,” has died in his Calabasas, Calif. home on July 31 following a lengthy illness. He died at 91.

The star played the commander of the Klingons on three different Star Trek TV series. Those being the original “Star Trek”, “Deep Space Nine”, and “Voyagers”. He is known to been just one out of the seven actors that have portrayed the same character.He also played Chiricahua Apache in the TV series "Broken Arrow" despite being Syrian. In fact played several other native american roles. Those being: Deputy U.S. Marshal Sam Buckhart, on the Peacock’s 1959 series “Law of the Plainsman" and he returned as the role in "The Rifleman.”

The rest of the pictures on his filmography include “Julius Caesar," “The Robe,” “Jupiter’s Darling," “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” (he also appeared in the spin-off TV series) “The Comancheros” with John Wayne; ”The Greatest Story Ever Told," “Guns of the Magnificent Seven," “The Bears and I," "The Message” and “It’s Alive”

RIP Michael Ansarsa.
