It’s nice to listen to trailer breakdowns because you get those extended nice conversations without all the rebuttal first. Good job guys. For the sake of conversation, I thought I’d bring up a few points.

As far as the gun thing goes, in trailer 2 there’s a shot of several police officers marching toward something, while they’re firing automatic weaponry. There it’s bullets, not electricity. So, I think they’ll have a mixture of both types of weapons because there was definitely an electrical charge being fired at Peter as you guys mentioned.

Peter and the skateboard is definitely a contemporary flare, one that doesn’t come from the comics. I think its main purpose, however, is to showcase Spider-man’s abilities as they develop. I read an article by Empire back in early January, and they said they were shown a sequence, which makes it clear that Spider-man develops his skills over time. I mean, he gets his powers relatively quickly, but he spends some time practicing swinging on chains in a warehouse before he ever swings on his webs. I imagine he spends time honing other skills too, and the skateboard is just an extra bit of flare in the montage. Webb seems really intent on building this from the ground up. He mentions giving the film a very organic feel to it, so it doesn’t surprise me that he’s spending time on Peter Parker experimenting with his Spider abilities. I think this is a good thing actually, and it’s interesting to note that Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker spent some time honing his skills to. Maybe this film will spend the same amount of time doing so, except it’ll have its own way of doing it.

I disagree that the Raimi movies didn’t showcase Spidey’s strength. In the first movie he held that sky trolley thing up with all those people in it, which must’ve been at least as heavy as the vehicle showcased here. When he punched Flash he sent the guy flying a good 10 feet. When he chased after the guy who he thought shot Uncle Ben, he punched a hole through the roof of the car (a very sturdy car from the 70s, mind you.). In the third movie he and Harry were throwing each other around the house, exhibiting a lot of strength there. When Sandman attacked that blue truck with all the money in it, Spider-man grabbed two full grown men, one at a time with just one arm each time, and flung them out the back of the truck like rag dolls.

Again though, good job. I enjoyed listening and will tune in again for future reviews.
