The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Now in this image, we see that Marc Webbs Lizard in his 1st original look, which most readers of the classic Ditko comics would know of and appreciate.

Lizard looks great. Maybe creepy, but great!
Many people asks; "Why Lizard has no snout?"
Here is your answer:

The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man is missing several key features that he usually has in the comics, such as a snout and torn clothes (usually a white lab coat and purple pants). Marc Webb has stated that Lizard lacks a snout because Rhys Ifans is using motion-capture to play the character, and he belives that Ifan's emotions would have been lost if a snout was present. The clothes were also removed to give the character a more realistic look.

OR

There’s the one with the snout, but I was interested more in something that could relate human emotions because I wanted to keep Rhys’ performance in that creature. Pixar does it extremely well, creating those emotions within characters that are essentially computer-generated. So, getting that nuance and the eyebrow ticks and the looks, and creating something that can actually speak with lips that make sounds, is a very detailed and, frankly, tedious process. But, I really wanted him to have emotion, have a face and have feeling. That’s the way I chose to do that.

Stop hating Lizard.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

With snout, it would look really awful when he is talking. Going with Ditko-inspired look is a perfect choice.

I don't buy it.

You can read emotions from animals pretty easily through their body language. Eyes are also extremely telling.

It isn't unreasonable to want a snout. In werewolf depictions, do you not see a snout? It's not like we're asking for the Lizard to flex his dewlap when he sees Gwen....

Ghost Rider talks without lips.

ImSuperman, have you seen the Lizard say ANYTHING in the trailers? If so, find me a link. Rhys Ifans has said he'll be very throaty, I know 'the Lizard' will have dialogue, but how can you judge how realistic it looks if you haven't seen it yet?

Suppose it's all for nothing?

I hate when people bash the no snout thing. I mean, can you imagine it trying to speak with it's jaws hopping up and down? That'd look silly. There's certain things that have to be changed when being cinematically converted.

A SNOUT WOULD NOT LOOK STUPID!!!!!

IF YOU LOOK SOMETHING WITH A SNOUT FACE ON IT STILL LOOKS FLAT AND CAN EASILY READ EMOTION ON IT!!!!!!!

IT NEVER HAD TO BE A LONG ONE!

Why haven't figured out by now that Ditko's Lizard had a (very small but very present) snout?

It would NOT in a 1000000 years look stupid in anyway!

FACT!!!

@Whitehearted Speaking with a snout would effectively look like if you placed peanut-butter in your dogs mouth. Yeah, not exactly threatening.
