OsCorp Industries wants to usher in an age of robotics, and has pumped piles of cash into robotics research. My interview mission? Pry some secrets out of OsCorp’s Head Engineer, Spencer Smythe.

DB: Can you summarize your recent work in one word?

Smythe: Mobility.

DB: Elaborate, please.

Smythe: If you wanted an elaborate answer, why did you ask for a single word?

DB: Tell me something no one else knows about your research.

Smythe: We have made significant breakthroughs in the field of manned flight technology, fluidity of movement, speed and dexterity evinced by our larger robotic devices.

DB: Hardware or software?

Smythe: Both. One feeds the other. Better machines with enhanced artificial intelligence networks making informed, logical choices at greater speeds. Better bodies and better brains.

DB: And how do you see this being commercially applied?

Smythe (laughing): I don’t do marketing. Engineering innovation doesn’t result from a focus on revenue.

DB: There are rumors the NYPD is interested.

Smythe: Well, if you want to catch the right fly, you have to spin the right web.

DB: Very clever. One last thing, how is it working with your son?

Smythe: Alistair is a brilliant young engineer and I’m thrilled to see his career develop. I’d better watch my back or he’ll have my job before too long!

DB: Domo arigato.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

"We have made significant breakthroughs in the field of manned flight technology, fluidity of movement, speed and dexterity evinced by our larger robotic devices."

Flight Technology = Vulture

Fluidity of Movement = Electro (how he's able to enhance electricity and move along with it; like that last scene from the trailer we saw.) or possibly Hydroman "fluid is to water" lol

Speed and Dexterity by our "larger robotic devices" = Rhino

Spencer Smythe + robotics and AI = Spider Slayers

Jesus H. Christ...has this movie dropped enough hints yet?

It ain't even out yet and I'm sick of hearing about it.

Next, there will be Decepticons pouring out of Oscorp.
Hmmmm maybe too late for that.

is he the one responsible for the glider and mecha rhino?

I am actually more excited to see the Vulture then the Rhino and Green Goblin combined.

Man all my hopes of this movie being awesome just flew out the window with that stupid poster. I hope the trailer in High Def will prove me wrong.

Tainted87 - 12/3/2013, 9:17 PM
Well if he is, his design for the Rhino is brilliant.
Yeah, I actually like it, even though it's definitely from Cybertron. How are you really going to have a man in a rhino suit NOT look ridiculous?

Glider and something else is hinted I don't know what the fluid movement can be

@ HydroMan

Yeah that would be cool but so many other characters would show up besides Hydroman.

1. Scorpion
2. Shocker
3. Mysterio
4. Hob Goblin
5. Chameleon

Heck I would rather see a more obscure character Jack O Lantern!

this movie will top Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2.

Freedom actually just copied his entire article and posted it into a comment here. What a dork. Did you figure it had context, or are you actually trying to stir the pot?

That is the great thing about Spider Man and Batman they have the best baddies of all time!
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 12/3/2013, 9:27 PM
Plain and simple all the baddies will have some kind of technology from Oscorp.

1. Vulture hence the pic of the wings

2. Doc Ock hence the pic of the arms

3. Rhino

4. Green Goblin with his weapons and glider

5. Electro will have enhanced capabilities with that chip on his head

6. They are already alluding to Shocker being the movie one way or the other.

I can also see them putting Scorpio or Mysterio in a future movie based on robotic technology from Oscorp!

@BlackNerd, where did you get Vulture from lol? It's clearly referring to Goblin's glider.

If Scorpio ends up in a Spider-man movie, I'd be one happy camper.

Though I think he'd work better up against Daredevil.

@ Hyrdoman

Yeah the whole premise of Oscorp and the baddies at this point of time is revolving around Robotics. I am not sure how Hydroman or Sandman can relate to their powers to robotics?!?!?!

Again if you watch the bootleg trailer from Russia it clearly shows the wings for Vulture and the arms for Doc Ock. And then they are mentioning a character robbing a bank with Shocker's powers. So to me here is the line up.

1. Lizard

2. Rhino

3. Electro

4. Green Goblin

5. Vulture

6. Doc Ock

Though I can see them switching out the Lizard for Shocker or The Scorpion.

Yup that is the Sinister Six if you ask me.

I agree either Scorpio or Mysterio and I will crap my pants. Those are two awesome characters I would love to see on the big screen. Oh yeah Hob Goblin is my all time favorite!
Darth258
Darth258 - 12/3/2013, 9:36 PM
@Vital: I think he got that from the trailer there, in a scene i think i saw some robotic wings next to some robotic Doc Ock tentacles.

No man, I mean SCORPIO. Andrew Robinson Scorpio. Dude's a PSYCHOPATH sniper who loves terrorizing the police with hostages and demands.

@ LehnsienLaw

I completely understand why they designed the Lizard that way, but they can easily correct the mistake in the upcoming movies.

Since their will be several baddies they show a progression of the Lizard becoming more beast with a longer snout etc... Since he was the only bad guy and they needed facial expressions with him.

So much potential...
