The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Why doesn't Sony just put the whole movie online while they're at it?

Still not sold on Garfield as Peter Parker, he is taking the "awkward geek" thing too far, he is not supposed to be Rain Man for God's sake. He makes the dude from Kick Ass look like James Bond.

Having said that, can't wait to see it! lol

He's not taking it too far. This is a modern teenager.
He's an outcast, so he isn't used to people at school talking to him.
Add onto that the girl that's talking to him is insanely hot, so he's going to be stuttering a lot an differing out what to say. You must not remember what it was like been a teen, or what it's like being an outcast. When you aren't used to talking to people a lot, it can be very hard to talk to people in general. And if you notice he seems to look away from her a lot, which means he's nervous. It adds to the character. You've never seen anyone like this in a comic book movie before. Usually the hero is an adult, is rich, or has a large reputation. He's just a teenager who doesn't know who he really is or what he should do in life. He's a TEENAGER. I think people need to remember that. Teens are awkward in general, so add onto of that being an outcast who is smarter than everyone else your age and aren't really into the things you are. That was the whole controversy behind Spider-Man to begin with, a teenager being a superhero. That was one of the main things about the beginning of the comics.
And btw the dude from Kick Ass actually had a group of friends, Peter doesn't really have any. So like I said, he's not used to talking to people, hence the awkwardness and stuttering.

In total we've probably seen like 15 minutes of the movie, because a lot of the tv spots and trailers were reused footage. And this movie is 136 minutes long, which leaves us about 2 hours more. This movie is longer than the original Spider-Man 1. It looks a lot more complex too, like a a lot will be going on.

@Crimson: Yeah I get all of that, but it is still a movie. He can deliver "awkward" without going so far with it that it is hard to watch. I'm not paying 8 bucks so that I can feel like I am stuck with an actual painful-to-be around nerd.

^Im extremely confused as to how you find Andrew more awkward than Tobey....I'm baffled really. Andrew seems very geniune and sincere in his uncomfortable situation, which I love. Tobey just acted awkward. Like when MJ asked if he had contacts, and he just made 3 different facial expressions, then made a creepy smile without even answering the question. Its not sincere, nor feels legitimate of someone feeling out of place. But hey, to each his own.

I gotta say.... this is definitely pulling on my strings a lot more that Batman is right now! I know Batman will be good but Spider-man is the one that has me counting down the days.

Having not been excited at all about this movie a few months ago and having planned not to bother seeing it... I am SUPER excited now. Midnight showing on this one. Looks like Sony may have finally got something right, and after Spider-Man 3, Hancock, & the two Ghost Rider films its about time.

And bravo for showing me exciting footage as well as well thought out scenes of dialog that make me want to see the movie, unlike another July release.

I see...Logan do you even know what outcast mean??? Apparently you don't. How he was bullied in Raimi's movies? One guy just interered with him doing photos and thats it...glad he didn't die. You cannot count Peter vs. Flash fight cause it was his fault. At least in this one he rally will be bullied...according to people that were on Comic Con. It was soo cool when you had something better to do. Oh and give me one example why Raimi's movies were more like The Amazing Spider-man than this...and suit is not the "one example" cause it's just stupid...No one is bitchin' about new Superman look or Batman look from BB, TDK and TDKR. It's just upgraded look of the classic suit and it looks pretty much the same and noone will be confused when they see this one...@thewolfx so there's no place for raimi haters but people like logan can be here...Hipster at least watched Raimi's movies so he has every right to hate him.
