RUMOR: Marvel And Sony Interested In Developing A SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE Movie - SPOILERS

It seems Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures may be interested in developing a movie featuring a team-up between Spider-Man and Wolverine following the events of Avengers: Doomsday...

Spider-Man and Wolverine are two of Marvel's most popular characters, and have teamed up (and come to blows) numerous times in the comics. The heroes have yet to appear together on the big screen, but that might just change in Avengers: Doomsday.

Possible spoilers ahead.

Recent rumors have claimed that Doomsday begins with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine facing off, before ultimately dying when the universe they're fighting in is destroyed. Apparently, they, along with every other character that's killed, will be resurrected at the end of the movie with no memory of their previous lives.

Assuming the above is accurate, this would mark the first time Spidey and Logan share the screen, but it may not be the last.

According to MTTSH, "Marvel Studios and Sony are interested in doing a Spider-Man & Wolverine movie."

Jackman is expected to make a few more appearances as Wolverine in the MCU, but this rumored movie could potentially feature Tom Holland's (or maybe even Andrew Garfield's) take on the wall-crawler.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

Doomsday will star:

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Florence Pugh as Yelena, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent

Along with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Tobey & Hugh would be crazy but I hope not tbh if this is true…

I would rather it be Holland’s Spider Man alongside the MCU Wolverine (preferably either Jack O Connell or Wes Chatham) though I’m sure some people will continue to complain that Peter can’t have a solo adventure even though his films have been squarely focused on him even with other heroes in the mix in which he’s had growth etc.

However just because they are interested doesn’t mean it will actually happen so it’s a wait & see for now!!.

@MCUKnight11 - I feel 6 would be best since you would have time to establish this version of Wolverine till then.

@TheVisionary25 - that’s my no as well. I just think it’s a waste of a movie. Marvel not doing 2 a year. Why waste it on Hugh and Tobey? They had their time. Even with tom, let’s get the new Wolverine in here

Logan, as Patch, with bone claws, infiltrates a secret operation to dismantle organized crime. Patch appears alongside The Hand, Viper (played by Mickey Madison), and Spider-Man.

This is before Weapon X.
Repian

@Repian - After Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where The Hand appears, Spider-Man focuses on fighting the criminal organization. What Peter doesn't know is that he's jeopardizing an operation to defeat the criminal organization from within. At that point, we discover that Patch is similar to Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises.

Then, Spider-Man and Logan come face to face.

@Repian - I like the idea (though would have it be post Weapon X) and casting of Mikey Madison as Viper aswell.

Maybe have the Gorgon as the leader of this sect of The Hand also , played by Byung Hun Lee!!.

It's got to be the new Logan, since this will be post secret wars.... unless they have a plan to squeeze it in before hand which would be insane.

This wouldn't be for the main timeline, though....
It sounds like Sony is considering it as a spin-off of the main universe and using Tobey's Spider-man with Hugh Jackman's Logan, and not the (yet to be cast) MCU X-Men Wolverine appearing with Tom Holland's Spider-man.

Holland Spidey + Jackman Wolverine means an easy billion if it's a good movie. 1.5B-2B if it's a great movie.

1. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

2. Make it a 2 movie epic lollapalooza!!!!

I'm kinda surprised it's not Spidey and Deadpool that they're thinking of.

Seems like that would have been the more natural pair up, given both characters' personalities.

The Spidey/Wolvie pair up seems a bit too close to Deadpool and Wolverine with Logan being a straight man to quipper and 'smartass' Peter Parker like he was for Wade Wilson - except without the 4th wall breaking.

A Spidey/Deadpool team-up would turn that on its head and (I guess) force Peter Parker to play the straight man to Wade Wilson's Merch with a mouth, and I think that's a dynamic that would be far more entertaining in my opinion.

I'm also guessing it's too soon in the universes for the more obvious and natural team-up that spidey could have had in a Spidey-Johnny Storm team-up, since they're best friends in the comics and have had may adventures together - with the Fantastic Four having only been introduced into the MCU for a minute.

That I'd love to see.

I like the idea, but I cannot trust Sony to do right for their own selves. They had a Spiderman-less Spider-verse LOL. When they chopped up Morbius by removing Toomes' parts from the film, the EASIEST way to connect to the MCU besides a scrapped idea for Venom to crossover to the MCU, was just idiotic. I don't trust Sony to make a good product after so many bad decisions.

TheVisionary25 - 3/9/2026, 7:45 PM
@JayLemleAgain3X - I don’t think Sony will be involved in the creative decision making like they haven’t necessarily been much if at all in the MCU Spider Man films thus far.

They just make the profit if I’m not mistaken tbh.

I like this idea! I'm surprised Marvel hasn't done simple Marvel Team-Ups like in the comic. I use to love those. They could mix and match two heroes fighting the bad guy with a much less budget than these team movies.

Every single trailer looks like an amateur AI trailer. They are style with dumb sound effects and editing styles that are so common that amateurs can pull it off too.

Studios are going to have to put a stop to fake trailers disguised to look like trailers of upcoming movies. Even if people have the freedom of expression, Youtube can stop hosting such trash.

If they won't, then the studios should boycott Youtube. Post them on their own sites instead. All the competing studios could use one site. Just like they all use the same theater screens.

Marvel afraid to take risks with a new Wolverine. I appreciate Jackmans portrayal and passion for the role but it's time for a new actor right after Secret Wars. Someone younger who can start interacting with the replacement Xmen and even younger Spidermen. I'm sure they can find the right actor.
MuadDib
MuadDib - 3/9/2026, 8:45 PM
Yeah, and then we can have Jackman do a team up movie with Hulk, since Hulk can’t have a stand alone movie. After that we can have Jackman do a team up with Steve Rogers, but have it be a flashback to the past. Then we can have Jackman show up in another team up…

Oh wait, I hate Jackman’s Wolverine and all the fan boys are hooked because they’ve never had anyone else actually play the character.

Pathetic.

We have a new X-Men coming, a new younger potentially more accurate X-Men and so many are hung up on the same dude who’s been Wolverine for 20+ years? Jackman was ok at best, never great as the character. That’s the cold hard reality. That he’s been the only actor to portray the character doesn’t help.

We need new blood, someone younger, who can fill the role for the next 20 years. Jackman had his time, we’re beyond the point where we should move on already.
