SPIDER-MAN: THE NEXT DAY - What Could Be Next For Sony's MARVEL Villains

With Kraven as the last confirmed Sony movie, and a new Spider-Man movie and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, Sony could bring its villains over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their history however, meaning the events from the movies and who they interacted with, wouldn't be brought over. This opens the door for them to appear either in brief cameos or as central antagonists. Either way, this is just one outline (inspired by the Spider-Man games) for how Kraven, Venom, Morbius, and others can be used in a Spider-Man movie.

To make this work, a few assumptions are made. As a result of Secret Wars, the villains from the Sony movie have now made the jump to the MCU. Meanwhile, Knull has found a key to his prison after he acquired and deciphered a partial Codex when Venom merged with the Xenophages in Venom: The Last Dance. Moreover, during the events of Secret Wars , Spider-Man acquired the piece of the Symbiote that arrived on his Earth at the end of No Way Home. Since then, a new crime boss -Mr. Negative- and his Inner Demons have taken over the streets, whom Spider-Man has had run-ins with.

Act 1: Kraven's Last Hunt

Spider-Man responds to an Inner Demons attack, which leaves many casualties. Spider-Man manages to fend of their leader Mr. Negative and helps the casualties, including Flash Thomspon, to FEAST, despite the Symbiote telling him to go after Mr. Negative. At FEAST, Spider-Man meets Nurse Rio Morales, who tends to the injured. When Spider-Man retakes to the streets to go after Mr. Negative, he is ambushed by Kraven. Kraven reveals the Venomized Spider-Man is his final prize. After an exhausting battle, Kraven manages to shoot and seemingly kill Spider-Man, and buries him.

Whilst being buried, Spider-Man receives a vision from Madame Web. She shows Spider-Man that an impending doom is coming for the Symbiote he wears. Spider-Man then reawakens at night, digs his way out and makes his way to FEAST. There he is helped by Nurse Morales' son Miles and the Night Doctor, who turns out to be Dr. Michael Morbius. He uses electric shocks and his sonar abilities to sever the Symbiote’s bond with Spider-Man, allowing Spider-Man to heal. The Symbiote is untethered from Spider-Man, but scurries off to the next room and bonds with the wounded Flash Thompson.

Act 2: Agent Venom

Having recovered days later, Peter creates a new suit. During Spider-Man's abscence however, a new vigilante named Agent Venom has started taking on the Inner Demons. Spider-Man tracks Aaron Davis' associate Black Cat, who points him to journalist Eddie Brock. Together, Spider-Man and Eddie Brock find Agent Venom interrogating Kraven on how to track Mr. Negative. Spider-Man's arrival results in three-way fight, with Agent Venom ultimately defeating Kraven. While Agent Venom escapes, Kraven allows himself to be arrested, having already proven before he can beat Spider-Man.

Spider-Man contacts Eddie Brock again, who reveals he is looking into the Symbiote himself. Arriving at Mister Negative's last whereabouts, Spider-Man finds Agent Venom having beat him to the punch. It's revealed Venom bonded with Flash as they shared a hatred towards Mr. Negative. Another three-way fight erupts, in which Mr. Negative is beaten and returned to his human form: FEAST's founder Martin Li. Having beat Mr. Negative, Spider-Man convinces Flash to let go of  his hatred. Li, guilt-ridden, then transfers his powers to Venom to purify it into Anti-Venom.

Act 3: King in Black

Li reveals once Knull gave him access to Darkforce energy and corrupted him into becoming Mr. Negative, he developed an innate hatred towards symbiotes and it's wielders. Due to some unforeseen circumstance, Li also gained acces to Lightforce energy. Transformed, he used these powers to establish the Inner Demons to draw out the Symbiote-wielding Spider-Man. At this point, Eddie Brock arrives and Anti-Venom bonds with him, resulting in Anti-Venom regaining his memories from Venom with Eddie Brock. However, Knull locates them due to this bond.

Knull's arrival is met by Spider-Man and Anti-Venom's opposition. Suddenly, Anti-Venom is possessed by the Enigma Force and becomes Knull's antithesis. Like matter and anti-matter, the Lightforce and Darkforce champions annihilate each other, ending the fight. Later, it's revealed that Miles and Dr. Michaels were infected with Spider-Man's blood. As result of the electric shocks, it triggered powers in Miles and cured Michaels' disease. After, Kingpin returns and has Phineas Mason equip Vulture, Mysterio, Shocker, Scorpion, and Hobgoblin (a corrupted Ned Leeds) to fight Spider-Man.

The story part of this is well thought but, for me, they have already been tainted by the Sony movies so even if MCU wants to use some of the Spider-Man villians from Sony, maybe use ones that they have not already junked up in their Spider-manless Spider-Verse! Personally, I am hoping that even the rumors of Venom in the next movie are not true, would prefer the street level that they are talking about where maybe it picks up after Daredevil and we see them working together to finally take care of Fisk once and for all.

I have no interest in watching these ans less interest in them being mixed into the MCU

After what we just saw in the recent Sony movies I'm not sure it's a good idea to go that route.

I appreciate using the symbiotes in a new way rather than just copy/pasting the black suit saga (although I'd like to see Marvel's version of it).

But ultimately, I don't want to incorporate the Sony movies in the MCU.

I know it probably won't happen in SM4, but I still would rather a Spidey/Daredevil team up to take down Fisk who blackmails Jameson into funding the Scorpion project. Give Michael Mando his due. They could even throw in Bullseye.

@OrgasmicPotatoe - that's the story I could see play out in 5 now that D'Onoftio confirmed he won't be in the next Spider-Man movie. But with Sony, we'll never know

That’s a lot of hard work you did up there to reward Sony for a series of shit movies. It’s a shame some good actors were wasted along the way, but I say reward Sony with nothing.

@Astroman - that's one way of putting it. But yeah, you do make a good point. I rather not see it happen either, but I'm not ruling out anything with Sony

Since things are getting inevitably epic and multiversal for Spidey's next outing, I think they should leave the more grounded movie that people actually want to see until after Secret Wars.

Recast with an actual 18 year old. First day of college. Kingpin as the villain. Team up with Daredevil. A little Punisher. Black Cat. Some kinda physically threatening supervillain for Spidey to fight in the third act while DD goes after Kingpin. I dunno, these are just things I keep seeing people want.

But we're obviously not getting them in the next movie and if we are then the next movie's not gonna be what it wants to be OR what fans want it to be.

They were just written poorly and directed badly.... Aaron Taylor Johnson and Jared Leto's Kraven and Morbius, respectively, both looked great as their characters and are excellent actors. I say bring them back. (The Rhino still needs a little work though).

You sometimes have some good thought-provoking articles.

Not this one.

I say burn every bit of this Sony sh!t.

Just have Spidey come back from Secret Wars with the Venom goo stuck on him, then an epic 2-3 movie Eddie Brock/Venom full on hate fueled war with Spiderman.

Oh, and back up the RDJ money truck to Holland's door. Sign him for 8 more years. He is Marvels Golden Goose, bringing in a billion $ + every movie. They can't furk that up.

@DocSpock - oh yeah, I'm in no way campaigning this is what Spider-Man 4 should be. Just something I thought about in case Sony is gonna a crazy move on is, which I don't put besides them

@bkmeijer1 -

I hear ya. Sony is a bag full of insane rats.

And keep it up. It's nice to have non ROHR/Josh articles on here for different perspectives.

it's easily the shortest route to making an epic multiversal movie, supplement Peter's 2 MCU villains with Venom, Morbius, Kraven, reusing the star power already gathered for the roles. Maybe throw in Carnage from a different Earth were Eddie didn't eat him to get the Sinister Six team Sony has been dead-set on introducing since ASM2. Will the movie end up good? Doubtful, but there's little hope for anything good anyway if the stakes have to be the BIGGEST EVER.

@1stDalek - "Will the movie end up good?"

That's the question I asked myself too writing this. I doubt I'm any better than Sony, but given SM4 has the writers of the previous MCU movies I'm hopeful.

And yeah, Carnage would be cool. Even that has some solid star power already, which is the only reason I think this might remotely work.

@bkmeijer1 - If the writing and directing can be on point there's certainly a chance, it certainly wouldn't fail for a lack of acting talent.

@1stDalek - I trust McKenna and Sommers. Think they can handle any multiverse angle the movie might have. And the action will for sure be good too with Daniel Destin Cretton
