The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field; the film swings into theatres July 3rd.

Anyone here from NYC and read the review in the Post today? Ido believe it will be better than most of the reviews are saying but this review in the Post did mention some laughable scene descriptions involved with NYC and how ridiculous certain things are portrayed. For instance Gwen lives in an apartment on the 20th floor but yet she has a fire escape lol. I just found the review funny and it did make me think twice about the film. Hopefully it's good but even if it isn't there's always the chance of Marvel getting those film rights back if Sony can't make any money off of him. That would be the best case scenario for me personally.

@mrTinmann I don't know why you type "erm" after everything you say but it's far from even being slightly funny. It's actually quite corny dude. Don't mean to be rude but it's annoying as [frick]!

It's a roller coaster ride right now on RT, it goes up and down lol. It's cause there are barely any reviews out yet but I sure it will be fine once it comes out. 75% now all RT is doing right now is adding all the rotten reviews.

Guys seriously it's [frick]ing amazing. It's the perfect spider-man movie. Andrew Garfield was perfect! He's as perfect for Spider-Man as Robert Downey Jr is as Iron Man!

The only complaints so far( other than the obvious reboot/orgin complaints) have been pacing and scripting but almost everyone has said Andrew Garfield was good same for Emma stone. I suspected this much from the film not perfect but good acting. Oh yea and the action is Apperently very good. 80%+ the lowest I think it will go is in the 70s. If its a good enough film then that's good, the first film in a trilogy should always be good enough then BAM the sequel is awesome.

The only thing that I am worried about with this film is the score. The Tobey score was so memorable.

^ yes they say it's good but some new reviews came in and said it was bad but so far it's doing well. Some guy from the NYT said " batman begins is for morons" this just proves every film will get outrageously retarted reviews. The only reason it's going up and down on RT is cause the # #reviews are small so if there are still good reviews coming in then I suspect it to be somewhere in the 85% range hopefully.

It sounds to me like the biggest issues with the film come down to:
1. Why did Sony reboot? (We fans know this, but the average movie-goer doesn't know, doesn't care.)
2. Mediocre directing, mediocre scripting. (Let's face it, most moviegoers don't even care or notice a film's directing. And scripting, well, as long as they get the audience feeling for the characters and caring what happens to them, some hokey lines won't matter to most folks...or, again, even be noticed.)

If the things in #2 are indeed the film's weaknesses, well, I'll probably hate it. But if #1 is the movie's biggest problem, as mentioned by several reviewers, that's a MUCH harder challenge in terms of getting butts in seats.

Saw the movie just 2 hours ago and I have to say they shouldnt have posted so many clips and feature videos. It really felt like I know most of the things that are about to happen (dont get me wrong, there are a lot of new things but most of the main "woah" moments would've been the clips they released).

You seriously dont really notice the CGI, it looks damn realistic and really good (it actually looks like it is real and not the fake CGI from the Raimi trilogy).

As a Spider-Man fan I have to say it's the best Spider-Man movie out there and I'm sure the second one will be better (because this one doesnt have that many Spider-Man scenes mainly due to being transformed first and so on).

Otherwise: 8/10 because it does have its flaws (movie mistakes like backpack gone and suddenly back when he arrives somewhere), but it definitely is one of the best movies this year.

2 friends that arent really into Spider-Man said it was boring because of the slow progress in the begin (takes a while till he suits up).

Amazing Spider-man the very best Super Hero Movie since AVENGERS!

I went with a group of 9 guys. We were al just expecting an enjoyable movie. But when the movie ended we were all like: "WHAT THE HELL! THIS MOVIE WAS [frick]ING AMAZING!" And people applauded which doesn't happen that often at my cinema. That's a good sign :)

@Preacherfanatic7 - Action and character development complimented each other. You saw the development in peters personality through his actions, which I really liked. *spoiler* That part which was released with the kid in the falling car was a turning point for peters character. He realized that saving people is what he likes and what he's supposed to do and that beating up thugs is a egocentric thing to do. *spoiler end*

The best thing about this movie was the action. Remember that feeling you had when you saw the Avengers fighting together like in the comics and cartoons? Well that's the feeling I had while watching this movie. The action was the best ever in a Spider-Man movie. The amount of detail put into his use of his webbing is astounding! The fights between the Lizard and Spider-Man is know definitely amongst my favorite superhero fighting scenes.

The second best thing about this movie was Andrew Garfield and the chemistry between him and Emma Stone. Andrew was THE PERFECT Peter Parker. He played Peter very likeable. Emma and Andrew were just perfect together.

A very pleasant surprise was that Flash had a bigger role than I expected. He really became a likable guy through the movie. *spoilers* First he is a bully but later on when his uncle dies he is the one that sympathizes with Peter. *spoilers* And in the end he wears a spidey t-shirt :)

Another great thing about the movie was the comedy. It was a very funny movie. It had the typical spidey jokes that were lacking in the original trilogy. :)

The only flaw in my opinion is the music. The music worked good for the movie, but it didn't have a memorable moment like the original spidey theme or the batman and superman themes.

All in all I really enjoyed this movie. My favorite Spider-man movie. It put Spider-Man back in my top 3 superheroes. It just made me realise why I loved Spider-Man. In my opinion it was the perfect spider-man movie. 9.5/10

what i forgot to say was that the action looked just liked it came straight of the pages of the comics and from the cartoons. It was great :)
