In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
During an interview in the next upcoming issue of
GQ magazine, they got the chance to catch up with Henry Cavill, who will star as the american icon Superman in the next upcoming Supes film
Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder. When asking Cavill about how money plays a part of his job, he went on to state that it's the one of the most essential elements.
God, all those people who say, “Oh no, the money doesn't matter.’ Yeah, right. They’re either mad, or they’re lying. I mean, come on. “Oh no, don’t pay me anything, it’s for the arts.” I’m sorry, no. Pay me the money. I’m not doing it for charity. I’m not a nonprofit organisation. Plus it’s expensive flying back and forward to LA. You need a job that pays money.
Cavill, during the interview, recalls how he felt during his audition to portray Clark Kent/Superman. He initiall felt that he wasn't right for the role and that it wasn't coming to him.
It was totally embarrassing, I wasn't in training. I wasn't feeling fit or looking good, and you put on a Lycra suit and it does not help it. I just thought, OK, I’m not getting this job.
